Just wondering who you guys reckon will play on Croad and Williams.

You have Fletcher, Bradley and McPhee to choose from but I reckon McPhee might play forward to try and stretch our defence.

Should be a good game, but its hard to work out the structures of both sides, especially with Lloyd missing.

Fletcher will take williams id say as he's quick enough to keep up with williams on a lead.

Croad is a hard one as we just dont have anybody who can go with him step for step. Mcphee is probably our best bet but he'll need help stopping croad. Andrew Lee would be a nice matchup but he's still a year or two off senior footy...we'll just have to make do with the usual suspects this week.

I don't think anyone will match up on them on Saturday.

On Sunday, Slattery to Williams. He played on him in the practice match and he got Didak for the first three quarters yesterday.

Fletcher on Croad.

Bloody hell - its bad enough we've only got a 5 day break. Now you lot want to make it four days. :D

Fletcher on Williams
He plays well on the smaller forwards.

McPhee on Croad.

Kepler up forward. Hawthorn are weak down back for height and we could exploit that.

This is a bit out of the box but what about M Johnson to do the tag on Hodge. He's strong enough, experienced and Hodge could get near the ball enough times to play him back to form.

If Hawthorn win some clean ball from the middle then Slattery will be made to look stupid. He couldnt handle Rhan Hooper or didak on the burst so what makes you think he could run with williams?

Williams will make anyone look stupid if Hawthorn get quick ball out of the middle.

I don't think we have an ideal matchup for Williams, might as well put a kid on him that we know will have a real crack.

Fair enough, i just think if the hawks lineup as they did last week then fletch will get williams. Croad plays too high up the ground for sheeds to move fletch from FB.

On to other matters Is my boy going to be the scapegoat again this week Longy?

Fletcher on Williams, McPhee on Croad.

McVeigh would be the only one other than Fletch or McPhee i'd have faith in stopping Williams.

Heff to Crawford, Watson and Mitchell head to head (both coaches would probably like that because neither would be hurt for pace). Slattery or MJ to Hodge (good luck).

Oh and Hird to tag Vandenberg of course.

Can you please play Dawson one out on Lucas in the F50 ?

I think we have to be realistic and realise its going to be hard to shutdown both. We don't have two Dustin Fletcher's.

Croad is going to be too good for Solly and McPhee. Williams is going to be too good for Slattery. But I reckon Slattery is a better chance to shut down Williams, than Solly/McPhee are to shut down Croad.

I don't know. They played him yesterday when he'd played a full game in the 2's a couple of days earlier, ahead of Reynolds who only played 3/4's.

I have to admit when he burnt off clement along the boundry line and hit the post i nearly had an ...episode. Had it gone through i may have needed a change of clothes.:D

I just hope he gets a decent run of more than 5 minutes at a time.

McPhee probably has the pace to go with Croad... but he's more dangerous when given freedom to play his own game loose IMO. But still I don't think Bradley is as good a muchup as McPhee for Croad.

don't know enough about Slattery to comment for him on Williams. You'll probably try to crowd Williams' space as his lead is his major/only weapon.

I think we'll probably put Roughead on Lucas ( I presume he'll be your main forward target) but Clarkson put Dawson on Rocca so you never know....

Hird vs. Hodge will be great. Probably wont play on each other but both will have a big influence on the result you'd think.

i think bradley will play on croad but i am not saying he could handle him but they played him on the other big forwards. fletcher will probably take williams but i would not be surprised if mcveigh got him. heffernan will play on hodge and i reckon crawford will play on hird. mcphee to play chf and lucas at FF

I wonder if we'll go with the same game plan as last season where we decided to let Hodge run free all day. WIth Hird doing the same for us.

He carved us up that day.

Going on what's happened in the first three rounds, I would have thought that Sheedy would give Bradley first crack at Croad.

First two rounds.

Played very little footy down back in the last two weeks.

Sheeds might put lovett on williams in one of his education exercises. Who do you think lovett-murray will man up on? he could probably go on either croad or williams if he had to. Was good last week as the loose man, so we have a couple of options there with him and mcphee, but we dont have a genuine CHB. I would like to see M Johnson on williams he is very good on small forwards.

Putting either Lovett boys on Williams would be one of the greatest mistakes made to man kind, you could pencil Williams in for 10 and the Hawks by 15 goals.

I dont think you blokes match up all that bad against us up forward, you will have Fletcher on Williams, Mcphee on Croad and probably a Soloman on a Dixon. On paper that looks good to me if i was an Essendon supporter.

The problem comes when and if Everitt comes to Fullforward and/or Hawthorn starts winning quick ball out of the middle. Fletcher is one of the greatest but even he will struggle to stay with Williams leading, also Mcphee likes to run and create and as we saw with Whitnall last week if you give Croad any room he will punish you.

Tough match but it looks as though everything is against you blokes this week!!!
