If it weren’t for a couple of junk time goals in dead rubbers last season, he wouldn’t have won the golden boot. Lukaku would’ve, yet Lukaku doesn’t receive half the praise that Kane does on here.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player, but best in the league? Nope. Hazard still has him well covered. Sanchez too. Could make arguments for others as well.
Lukaku is great, but he never stood up against the big teams. Will be interesting to see how he goes at United this season against the top teams.

****ing hell, people don’t even try.

Last season in the league, Kane scored 3 league goals against the top 6. Aguero scored 3 goals against the top 6. Sanchez scored once against the top 6. Costa scored 2 goals against the top 6.

Lukaku? 4 goals against the top 6. Hazard scored 5 goals against top 6.

Sorry for doing research. I feel horrible because it destroys the narrative that you’re not a very good footballer if the vast majority of goals aren’t scored against the big clubs. Unless you’re Ronaldo or Messi, it’s not something that actually happens.

Sorry, Sánchez did score a game tying goal against PSG and goal against Bayern to equalise in a 5-1 loss. And Kane scored against Monaco and... an own goal agains Gent in Europe. Aguero scored twice in Europe last season, both against the defensive juggernaut that was Monaco. So points for all of that.

Fake news. Lukaku scored at the Etihad, Emirates and White Hart Lane last season and that was for an Everton side that always parked the bus in the big games.

Take out penalties and Kane only scored once against the top 6, and that's playing for a top 6 side himself who are able to go toe-to-toe with their opponents.

More fake news.

Not sure why, though. FAKE NEWS!

Last season was an anomaly for Lukaku, this has been done to death. Kane destroys him when it comes to goals in big games.

You can only judge players from one season to the next season. I think it’s unfair to tar Lukaku on what he’s done prior to last season. It’s what happens from this season onwards that counts, now that Lukaku has the same advantages as all the other top strikers in the league and that’s playing for a big side.

How can you do that when particular contexts exist for each season? Kane and Aguero missed chunks of last season while Lukaku had an uninterrupted season.

Cool, well we'll see how he goes against the big teams this season then, of which he hasn't played any yet.

I know the Super Cup isn't the most prestigious competition but surely scoring in a competitive fixture against the current Champions League holders has to count for something?

Is it competitive?

We were talking about matches against big teams. Kane and Aguero missed large chunks last season and Kane still managed 9 out of the 10 games home and away against the top 6 and Aguero played 7 matches against the top 6. They still managed to score not many goals in those matches.

Yep, that’s right. Kane didn’t score against Chelsea this season and Aguero scored once in a 5-0 win over Liverpool. If that’s the standard, Lukaku might surprise some.

Look around, clearly a lot of non-United fans care.
Sigh. Didn’t once mention United so not sure why that is referenced anyhow I meant why care about the dick measuring contest if A scored X amount against B,C, D and E scored X amount against B,C,D in comparison. Pointless nonsense.
