Bulldogs v Falcons - Probably the most important game in terms of end of season standings. The Dogs are only 2 games out of the 4 and the Falcons 1 game, but with the Sharks recent form there is a big chance to take their position, but they must both be close enough. Head to head at Freo Oval it is 89 - 55, doggies favour.

The Bulldogs will need McGrath, Head, Miller, Siegert, Hams, Murphy and Wilson to be near the top of their game. The running division is probably where this game will be won and the above will need good support from Dell'olio, Gugliamana, Collica, Summer, White and Mgumbwa. Murphy and Wilson should take enough chances to get a competitive score for the Bulldogs but the defence, led by Hunt and Bossong, will need to be very good to stop the Falcons forwards.

The Falcons should have Darling back for this game, coupled with LeCras, Tsalikis, Gobbels and Saylor it's a pretty potent attack, but can go missing. In defence Hunt, Zanetti, Lasscock, Tedesco will need to work well together to quell the twin prongs of Murphy and Wilson. Salecic always leads from the front, and will need equal endeavour from Guadagnin, Lamb, Bewick, Bartholomew, Crossland and Mitchell in the ruck against Mgumbwa and Delmenico could be critical.

Sharks v Tigers - The Sharks season seems to be rapidly vanishing in front of them and now they're going to have to work very, very hard to get it back on track. Starting against the rampaging Tigers is not the ideal place but it must be done.

The Sharks have a decent midfield and a reasonable defence, forward is where they have been let down most of the year, IMHO. This weekend is where Brown, Spangher, Dodd, McNamara, Houlihan, senior players with AFL experience, need to draw a line in the sand. They need to inspire the younger brigade of Bucovaz, Hall, Stevens, Fasolo, Brennan, Stephen, et al, who are all talented players. The talent is there, IMO, need to work through the mental barriers.

The Tigers, well they're just up and about, without a sign of dropping off in performances. If one runner doesn't have a great day, the next one pops up and blitzes. C Jones is closing in rapidly on the century and with 7 rounds left he only needs 3.5 goals per game to get there. Richardson and now Ninyette will contribute goals consistently and then any number of the mids, or whoever they plonk in the FP, will also grab one or two. When you have guys like Walton, Orzel, Weedon missing out, you know it's a strong team.

Demons v Swans - Last time they met it was a tight tussle and Swans snuck away to a 2-3 goal win. The Dees are in better form now so this should be a tight contest again.

The Demons have McDougall in fine form, seeming to relish the latitude given and chance to train with his dog at Lathlain, Siekerka is hitting his straps after last year's injury, Mzungu is now one of the premier players in the WAFL, Young is back to his ball magnet ways and young Smith is hitting the best form of his young career. Add to that O'Sullivan, who has impressed me in the centre, Ferguson is a very dangerous forward, Houghton is developing very well and Sneeuwajt (as long as he's not focussing on the World Cup :p) has been a fine contributor for the season. Billings has become a good, solid defener also, so there's a fair bit to like about the Dees.

Swans have struggled the past couple, without Spaanders, Simpson and Hansen. They regain the first 2 in a week and now Wolfenden is missing for 5. Geappen continues to be a great focal point and Notte and Pullman must really stand up and contribute. One of these will attract the improving Sibosado. Roberts will lead from the front and will need support from Garlett, Davis, Hinkley, Walters, Riggio and Krakouer. Lammie v Sullivan (ranked 2 in hitouts in the WAFL) may be interesting or downright ugly!:p Ames, Pratt, Jetta (most improved) and Spencer run a very tight ship in defence.

Thunder v Lions - Well, not much has gone right for the Thunder, being belted week in, week out, but they have some fantastic young talent on the list. Harley Bennell won the Larke Medal at this year's U18 carnival, Blayne Wilson is highly rated and Rhett Mason has shot to the top of the WAFL Rookie of the year leaderboard.

The Thunder can't seem to stay competitive for much longer than 2 quarters and they've only ever beaten Subi twice. They're not helped by not being able to get some of their better players on the paddock, like Battye, Buszan or any forward of note. O'Brien and Holmes have been pinch hitting there quite well but they need a focal point. Young Crichton is showing a fair bit, Luff, who I like, has just been battered from pillar to post so I hope he comes out the other end with his self belief still.

One thing Subi can do is put away young, inexperienced, weaker sides. Broadhurst is a fantastic workhorse and works all over the ground. Keevers and Cossom provide some pace and Randall, Parker and Rumble are steady in defence. Campbell runs hot and cold and that's all in the 1 quarter! Rix is a top notch ruckman in the WAFL and there looks to be some decent talent in Blechynden, Re, Kerr, Martin, Muller and Stack. Young Sheehan also looks very promising, although not playing much at the league level yet.

Souths smashed a very disappointing West Perth at Freo Oval tonight to keep their finals hopes alive. The Falcons could only muster 3 behinds up to half time whilst the Dogs peppered the goals in comparison, kicking 6.12 and could have been a lot further in front. West Perth then hit back kicking 2.4 to 1.2 in the third quarter to give them a glimmer of hope.

But the last quarter was all Souths as they kicked five goals to West Perth's one, keeping their finals hopes alive but also putting a severe dent in the Falcons' finals aspirations.

Ryan Murphy kicked five goals for Souths and was the leading goalkicker on the ground.

South Fremantle 12.17 (92) defeated West Perth 3.9 (27).

Bugger.

Perth beat the Swans by a couple of goals, though not entirely unexpected.

Swans were missing the following best 22 players;
Spaanderman
Simpson
Robinson
Hansen
Pratt
Colreavy
Pearce
Garlett
Wolfendon

EDIT: Might I add the umpiring was absolutely atrocious. A typical Statham umpired game...

Congrats to Perth, told Troy Cook during the week that Perth would win, they haven't been too bad and we've been a bit off, so well done.

At least we get to travel to Mandurah on Sunday next week to play the in form Peel!:p I know this will come back to bite me, but hey!
