Just as a disclaimer to Essendon fans that want to come on here trolling....we all recognise that James Hird was a champion and full credit to him for getting back up in that game and leading his team to victory.

BUT it was a darn good hit and a great finish from Johnstone.

"He's done an Aaron Davey!"

Awesome.

Also featuring in this video: Aaron Davey's fro.

Not to mention Motlop donning the #53. Quality video on so many levels.

I still want to know why of all numbers we were packing a spare #53 heritage jumper that day?

Meanwhile the guy who puts all these MFC videos on YouTube that are recorded from a camera in front of his TV needs a government grant to upload them properly. Great clips - and proof why we need to do season review DVD's even in rubbish seasons.

There is a surprisingly large collection of Matthew Whelan videos on Youtube. That goal against Brisbane was hardly all that memorable.

The question is; who is going to replace Whelan when he's gone? Who will be our next "I don't give a ****, I'm getting that ball!" kind of player?

I doubt it.

Jack Grimes probably isn't as physical as Whelan but he never takes a backward step. His future might be in the midfield but if it isn't he can easily be the type of defender Wheels was for the best part of a decade.

I'm just going to be so happy if we can get Wheels out there next Sunday. Becuase he deserves some thanks (and the 150 games, AFL life membership or whatever it is) for the massive legacy he is leaving. I truly believe Aaron Davey wouldn't be the type of player he is without Whelan, and by extention the future in Wonaeamirri, Bennell, Jetta and Jurrah should all be thankful for the work Wheels has done.

Legend. Hopefully he stays at the club in a developmental role, the indigenous players at our club always speak so highly of him. A flag bearer for all wearers of a number > 40.

Just want to reiterate that Wheels has been me and my bro's favourite since he arrived at MFC. When my bro was living in Japan I was struggling to think of a good birthday gift to send him. I had a t-shirt made up for him in navy blue with red MELBOURNE on the front, and WHELAN over a big ol' 45 on the back. Needless to say, best birthday present ever. I wish I'd received it.

One of the better tacklers in the league in my opinion, will be sad to see him go as have loved watching him go about it over the years
