COMPLETE HYPOTHETICAL FOR PURPOSES OF DISCUSSION AND NOTHING MORE

Not that I'm personally looking to trade him, cos I rate him very highly amongst our future midfielders, but from the sounds of things, Mattner might be just the player you guys are looking for. Excellent pace, agility and one of the best chase-down tacklers in the comp. For those who haven't seen much of him, he is constantly on a form rollercoaster, so you might have seen him on a really good or really bad day. His main problem is his inability to win the ball in tight contests and as a consequence can go missing when he isn't supplied enough ball.

Would you be interested? What would you offer?

I wouldn't really want him, we have a few receivers who do quite a good job.

We need a player who is willing to get the ball out of the pack.

your correct, i have seen very little of him..

I was going off

Sorry, fair enough then, not sure where an Adelaide supporter would get that from. We continually see him chase down a player, get the ball and then run the lines.

My biggest concern with him is his decision making at times.

I'm confused.

What are Carr, Cook, Hasleby for then because it sure isnt pace and skill?

If you are going to criticise a team the least you could do is include what team you support in your profile.

Depends which carr you talking about.
J Carr is quite skillful.

Ill give you Cook has little to no skill just toughness.

But to say Haselby hasnt got skill suggests you have no idea about the dockers.
The guy is nice kick, incredible mark for his size and his hand passing is top notch.

Why should that even matter?

Anyway, I am not really having a dig. I just think that Dockers fans are confused when they talk about improving their midfield. Some say they need pace, others say they need clearance players. The only player that can do both them is Judd.

If i had a free pick of one of the Eagles midfield to boost ours, I'd take Kerr hands down. It's not that I don't rate Judd because he is exceptional, it's just that Kerr would probably compliment better what we already have.

The Eagles struggle more with Kerr out of the team than any other player IMO. His worth cannot be understated.

lol we would dominate with Judd. I'd take 1 Judd over 3 Kerrs. We would be awesome with Judd. Judd is the best player in the game and would compliment us brilliantly with his ball winning ability in contests, disposal into F50, leg speed around the ground and finishing skills.

Not to mention he is far more consistant than Kerr. Kerr has 1 good month and all of a sudden he is a superstar.

I'm with kenny on this one. Judd will always hurt you, i dont think the same can be said for Kerr

With winning form, our midfield is looking alright! But don't let it distort things. it is still the area where we need to continue to improve. We have MacManus and Cooke who have a limited life expectancy. Hasleby has struggled with an injury for a few years. Bell also is in his last contract for us you would think.
In the wings we have Browne who may not continue on the list, although he seems fit and firing so hopefully will get a reprieve. We also have Dunn who is unknown in terms of future usefulness, and that young guy, Ibbotson from EF we recruited last year.

In the next 2 years we need to unveil a new top class midfielder. With our forward line excellent delivery should be a priority. The earlier the draft pick the better the player. We also need someone who can replace Cook and MacManus, though I think these guys may be easier to find replacements for later in the draft.

The plan would have been for Dunn to be a significant contributer by now, but injury has stopped him in his tracks.
