Collingwood
Will we be likely to pick him up if he comes into the PSD or will we bypass and pick up a young bloke, personally i wouldnt mind if we picked up lappin by the way he played in the International Rules Game but my only concern if we pick him up is whose spot is he taking because if its a Rusling or a Egan then were better off without him.

Collingwood will pick up either Guerra or Matty Lapin in the PSD depending on who nominates and who they think will be best for the team. Personally thin Guerra would be a better option at this stage

Guerra wont be available in the PSD if he goes in the National Draft where he's certain to be picked up by somebody else. I'd happily take him in the PSD or with pick 53, but he might go before then. He's not worth pick 2 5 21 23 or even 37.

Carlton the only club who wants matty Lappin so he's go no choice but to resign for what they offered him as no other clubs wants him , so its carlton or no footy in 2006

re-sign?

******** no, if he was the best available then we would be better off taking another pick in the National draft

Pick 73 or whatever > Lappin

What he said

I cant believe some people actually want him?

Geez, last year people complained when we picked up older players who are younger than Lappin, this year people want Lappin?

Only 15 year old kids are suggesting we take Lappin.
Grown ups know better

Take Lappin if he is the best available. Simple as that.

He's a good player, it's just short term, if they can kind someone that is a good player that will last time (Armstrong, Guerra :)) then they should go that direction.

agreed, theres no use for him, guerra is 6 years young i think and a tough nut, we are missing that at the club, id pick that over lappins skills, we got plenty of lappin like players.. would mclaren even taken if carlton pass him?

That is not necessarily what Malthouse does.
He sometimes goes for a kid if the PSD has no real standouts

very interesting this

pre-season draft looks like it will be a group of nuff nuffs this year, nothing special at all really, blokes that dont cut it at respective teams, no good players have nominated on their own accord as yet, can this still change???

four options
1. elevate h.o'brien to senior list & ignore the pre-season draft
2. extra pick in the national draft wit no pick in pre-season draft
3. pick up a young nuff nuff like s.armstrong in the pre-season
4. pick up m.lappin, a genuinely talented, all australian footballer, with skills, flair, pace, pretty much everything we are looking for right at the minute!!

option 1, i like, harry looks good
option 2, just a lottery, could get anything with a pick 70+
option 3, no thanx we dont need anymore duds
option 4, yep lappin can come in & play top grade football for two years, he can play forward, back or on the wing, great reader of the play

id take lappin or elevate harry o

complaining bout trading for c.morrison

loved the fact we picked up b.caracella for nothing

if have the chance we should do the same with m.lappin, much higher chance of getting more top level football out of him even if he only plays for 2years then a nuff nuff like s.armstrong or a pick 70+ in the draft

I Like the idea of picking up Lappin for a bargain.

But this is the problem - he is not coming cheap. Carlton have offered him a good deal which he isn't happy with so if he enteres the PSD then he will place a high figure / long contract on his head.

what a waste of a pick, if hes only going to be around for 2 years when some people on here are saying we aren't premiership contenders, whats the point?

we are a better chance of getting more good football out of lappin, than out of any other dud in the pre-season or a 70+ pick in the draft, we have enough average players on our list as it is, why would we want to pick up more just because they could stay on the list for longer??

yeah by all means if there is any actual talent in the pre-season get them before lappin, no point picking up a nuff nuff just because they are 23, we have plenty of nuffies already

thats true, but whats the point of getting 2 quality years out of someone if there is no long term gain out of it when you can take a risk with a 22-23yo who in 4-5 years may turn into a quality player at the right stage for us when we have a developed team contesting for a premiership.. but we are arguing about something stupid becuase we are basically stuck at a dead end, we wanted a selwood, rodan, bartel ect but didnt work out so we are just arguing about scrap at the moment, id rather look within OUR structure and put faith in OUR players instead of going outside, i say promote o'brien or davies and give them a chance because they have shown they have some potential, we should give them the chance to reach it asap

if you read my post i gave four option

number one was elevate harry o, he looks good, give him a chance
number four was draft m.lappin, he is the only quality in the pre-season draft (if he goes), stupid not to pick up a quality player, we dont need anymore average 22-23 year olds, half our list is these types, we need quality!

honestly, the reason i said the previous statements is because majority of people on here believe Collingwood arent a chance of going all the way next year but i do, so on second thoughts, Lappin wouldnt be such a bad option. It all depends on where we're heading next year, if we arent going near top 4 next year, Lappins not worth the pick, if we are beating top 8 teams continuesly and are in the top 8 convincingly then Lappin IS worth it..

Lappin has apparently re-signed for two years so you may have to choose Camporeale.
now THAT would be a mistake.. no thank you :p
