He is living up to his name, "ghost who walks", and has disappeared off the sporting commentary scene.

After Skulls re-emergence on the cricket scene, I thought about Tangles, where is he know?, as he was one hell of a character.

Don't we mean Mike Walker- changed it by deed poll....aiming to replace Richie as skipper of the commentary team- but does Mike...i mean Max....have the cream, the bone......?

Yeah, but honestly, he was never going to get that job in the end.

Richie still hadn't forgiven him for when he hijacked the commentary box and it took a bloody SWAT team to get him out of there. ;)

Why was Max Walker sacked from channel 9 in the first place? Was it because he said something about World Series Cricket and then Packer gave him the chop?
 
:D i get a chuckle everytime i listen to any of the 12th man... who could forget big max's snoz opening the wide world of sports ;)

Ahh yes - the Maxaphone.

She's a little bit messy though - pass us a tissue Zippy.

But yes, why did Max lose his job (in real life) from the commentary team? Rod Marsh went to radio. But again there I don't know if it was a push or a shove. I was too young at the time to know any better :(

Max got sacked because he is an idiot.
 
I thought Max was alright, the 12th Man's parodies are gold: "Left foot, right foot, left, then the right, in pretty quick succession - Theres that familiar right foot combination" - illustrates the fact that he said some really stupid s**t. Sorry Matt I cant give you a real answer, I would like to know as well, but my guess is he just couldnt cut it at first class commentary level. He spent another 6-8 years hosting Wired World of Sports though, maybe he was more of an anchor type.
 
Probably my favourite Max Walker commentary moment was a ODI at (I think) the WACA. The batsmen got hit on the body and had the wobbles a bit, so Maxie said he had a d1cky knee... the replay immediately then showed the batsmen was hit on the box... good choice of words. :D
 
For turds sake, does anyone know why he was sacked from channel 9?
