I just had a look at the recent drafts and here are the only guys that are about the same age as Vickery that I'd say are outperforming him.

Taylor Walker
Alex Rance
Daniel Talia
Jake Carlisle
Jack Gunston
Jack Darling
Jeremy Cameron

There's a few other on a similar level in Hurley, Aaron Black, Sam Reid and Sam Kerridge. Not a long list.

I still want to see him take more contested marks (and that won't happen until he puts on some beef). For all his great agility for a guy of his size (and it's only VFL-Level, remember), that ain't going to make him an AFL footballer. It is a nice gimmick, might be some advantage in a few cases, but the guy will only make a career by being tall and strong.

If he gets to the AFL and can't take a big mark, teams will just put someone like O'Brien or Grundy on him - stop him marking by bodywork and positioning and then kill him when the ball hits the ground.

His agility will only be an advantage if he's playing on another giant - and that will only happen if he's playing tall.

The signs are promising, however..........................................

Harry O'Brian is only 188cm - If he was played on McBean there is no chance Harry will be able to stop him marking 15cm height and another 5-6 cm arm span would put the ball well and truly out of harry's reach

It's a bit unusual to find, given most at his age are still adjusting to the sudden growth of that age and take time to gain control of themselves. That aspect will only continue to improve, which only serves to continue to look forward to his growth and footy development.

if not it would be a shame to see a kid with such obvious talent get smashed because he's under sized physically playing AFL...
rather see his talent blossom and grow in a less physically demanding game...

I forgot where exactly JAK but he's been reported at 92/93kgs due to diet and training. So there is hope. Love to see him at at least 100kgs. Could have been one of the clubs videos.

It was Elton last year (purely based on 1 seconds worth of play in a NAB Cup game).

Other notables include:

David Gourdis.
Dean Putt. He was going to be our 6'7 winger.
Matt Arnott (he was No1 earlier this year - overtaken by The Beano.)
Tom Roach.
Marty McGrath was a sensation in the 2s.
Justin Plapp is the most famous.

Sometimes the fans get it right - we were all screaming for Tuck to get a game, well before he got the call-up.

7kg's already is a great sign. Every keg makes a huge difference. If he can put on another 5-10 over summer he could be getting a game this time next year.

He s already put on a stone in weight at 18 you would expect he ll pack on a bit more
