I think the members have spoken... Lets just hope the MCC is listening....

And its not that we cant go without havinga drink for 3 hours, its more the fact that going to the footy is a social occasion where u are usually going with your mates etc, and therefor it would be nice to haev the option of sitting out in the stands and having a few beers.

And I would imagine if it did go through, the MCC would introduce wet and dry areas, so those who feel there human rights are being violated by sitting next to someone with a beer in there hand can have the choice to sit in an alchohol free area.

Everyone is happy then.....

Yep if they have wet and dry areas.....fair enough.

I've seen an absolute bruiser from a tanked ex-Victorian cricketer (he's on MCC hall of fame for batting and bowling averages) on Boxing Day and he was escorted out very, very quickly.

If he's a Victorian, chances are he was actually playing. :thumbsu:

This is a quick notice to all MCC members out there and people who have been guests in the MCC reserve at the MCG. The MCC website is currently running a poll asking if members would support the introduction of "wet areas " ( i.e can consume alcohol in the viewing seats ) in the MCC reserve.

For all those members out there who like me are sick of having to cram into the bars and skull down a pot at half time or between quarters, and who would rather just enjoy a drink out in the outer like all the other sections in the G then log onto the MCC website and vote "YES"

There you go. I only thought Footy Park in SA was the only place you couldn't watch a game and have a beer at the same time in Oz. They have relaxed the rules this year for the first time since 1974 and allowed 2 or 3 of the ground level bays in the members area to be a wet area and most of the northern stand is now a wet area. So you can have a drink in maybe just over 15% of the ground.

Hi,

Question for you all. In 2004, was offered my provisional MCC membership, after having been on the waiting list since birth.

As I was (and still am) a student living out of home, didn't reply to the offer. However, with my studies concluding soon, spoke to the MCC front office, and was told that if I write in a letter to the club, explaining my situation and offer to pay back fees, I'd be considered.

Has anyone else had similiar experiences, with a delayed response to their offer, and if so, how much were forking out up front? Much luck with it? Etc. etc.

Membership annually is about $700 per year yes?

Help on this is much appreciated.

Cheers

Was is in exactly the same situation as you, as I was a student when offered restricted membership and I deferred it.

Wrote a letter to the MCC, explaining my situation, and they gave me membership. I had to pay for all the years I deferred my membership (4yrs in total), restricted membership fee, plus entry fee.

Restricted membership is about $400, entrance fee is $700.

Hope this helps.

Thats dear, but fair I suppose since its compounded

So I believe that's about $2300 yes?

Also - could anyone tell me the difference between restricted and full membership?

Don't you ever talk to me again, boy. The cheek! Such insolence! What is your name!

Look, I wasn't having a go at you, just the muppets. I'm not impatient. I'm very patient. I'm never rude to people's faces either. I never yell across the bar. Not that it seems to matter to half of the unobservant MCC bar staff. You stand there patiently waiting and the bartender is just as likely to serve the customer immediately in front of them, whether they've been waiting 20 minutes or 20 seconds.

Here's a couple of suggestions for you to pass on. Why don't you start pouring extra beers before the siren goes? Then 500 people won't have to stand there, watching, waiting for each beer to be poured. And don't hire people who have never handled cash or poured a beer.

Many of us don't even bother going for a beer during the game. I wonder if the MCC and Spotless realise just how many sales they are missing out on? In most bars I know, they can't pour the lager fast enough. If they can't cope with the demand, they hire more people.

If there was competition from other bars, you can bet the service would be quicker. There's an idea. Maybe we should just wander up to the Hilton Hotel or the MCG Hotel on Wellington Pde. It would be quicker to get a drink...

The Cheek...lol

Seriously who is this guy. Chewy. What a f*cking wanka.

You are the exact reason I hate being apart of the MCC.

MCC = Assholes who think they are better than everyone else. When really they are the scum of the earth.

Dry or Wet. MCC Members take a good look at yourselfs.

OK -

1) You completely missed the point of the OP, and have ended making a complete dick of yourself.

2) I would suggest getting an AFL membership or a club membership instead. Maybe just wait for Frostbites to reopen and get a membership there instead? The demographics of those who are MCC members are unlikely to change anytime soon.
