Will this man ever SHUT UP? How can he honestly write and publish this trash?

Some of his gems today...

"This time last year the Crows sat on their hands at trade week and missed the bus big time. Plenty of football talent was on offer, none of it came to West Lakes".
Ummm who was there Chris? Oh that’s right, you wanted McDougall! You bagged the club for not actively perusing him. And look how that turned out for the Dogs. They’re stuck with, albeit talented, a complete dud.

Tarrant? Akermanis? Everitt? Spare me Chris.

“Stephen King at Geelong would have been on the radar until last weekend. His name would have been removed the moment his Premiership dream became reality”.
Who wanted King? I certainly didn’t want a ruckmen nearing the end of his career. And considering we MUST get more games into Maric and Griffin this is a ridiculous suggestion.

"The dominance of Geelong, the Power and Collingwood clearly show the value of quality bigmen.”
Collingwood? Fraser isn’t bad and does a lot around the ground, but who else do they have? They had Bryan and Richards rucking in the PF for crying out loud! Quality bigmen? You could find better in the SANFL.

“The gutsy decision is to float the likes of young guns Richard Douglas, Nathan van Berlo and Chris Knights as potential trade bait”.
Just no Chris, no.

Thing is, he always harps on about how we should be targeting all these players during trade week, does he EVER float up names until after it’s all said and done? For the first time ever he has today and it's a laugh and a half. If we get those players we're tanking.

Give it up Bones, you're an absolute joke. :thumbsd:

Although I agree with Bones that Adelaide lacked a dominant ruckman (Huddo was great at ground level but I would rate his tap work as dominant, just competitive) I think in retrospect King would have been a waste of time in season 2007 - he only played 6 games, and one of those was the GF. Most of his season was spent injured.

But he is right about us lacking dominant ruck men. A dominant ruckman may have seen us in a GF in 2007. It certainly would have seen us finish higher on the ladder.

Next year will be interesting. I don't rate Biglands, who is older than King and coming back from a knee recon as a number 1 ruckman. And Maric and Griffen are along way off being the number 1 ruckman. I expect that we will struggle in 2008 because of this.

Angwin and now Meesen have shown us the folly of recruiting too many young potential ruckman. They take too long to develop, may never develop, and are just as likely to disappear, either entirely or to another club.

Vintage McDermott. Great way to rebuild, trade the few quality young players you have. :eek:Pretty obvious why he has never coached at the highest level. Scubber.

Haha, is he ****ing serious?

He's called them "young guns" and then demands for them to be traded?

We've got very few quality young midfielders.... so we trade 3 of them away. Right Chris

What is the purpose of 'floating' these dudes anyway? Just for the hell of it Chris? Or maybe we can get some magic beans in return?

I just about spat my wheaties everywhere when I read this article this morning. I dont agree with one point he had in his article. Look, I loved Bones as a player and the tireless hours he does for charity, but what kind of a pin the tail on the donkey crapchute article is this. Maybe he is smart and sells papers and makes lots of money, but he just cant be serious. Oh and dont get me started on the Mattner for Doyle article. Plus my Roosters lost.

Correct weight.

im still waiting for the next article to mention sticks, platten and bradley... it has been at least a few weeks.

bone will never lose the chip. 10 yrs later he still cant hack the fact that his sacking led to a crows flag... and never will by the looks.

What, you’re suggesting I or anyone else actually buys the paper to read his trash?

I open the sport and there it is, pretty hard to miss. I get a pretty good laugh out of his articles too, shows him up for the fool he is.

He is just one cog on a full wheel of gutter journalists.

A very twisted and bitter man he is. Has never said a positive things about the Crows since he was sacked. He, McGuiness and Jarman just prove that no one is bigger than a football club.
Jarman is the only one out of those 3 that have any credibility left.

Give me a break, Mcdermott is a thousand times better than Rucci, Mcdermott tries to at least be impartial despite the fact that his loyalties do still lie with the Crows. This cannot be said for Rucci, who blatantly hates the crows and loves anything port, how long ago was it that thommo made his stupid bet, wait a sec, Rooch is counting for us, need I say more.

Yes he often makes the odd call that is a bit unpopular, but hey reading what is said on his blog and what is said here, quite often very similar reports, sometimes you need to stop and take a second look at what he has written, I did, I used to hate reading his articles and a year or so ago would have said similar things, either he's got better or some of you need to be accepting of someone who has an opinion that might be slightly different to yours.

Give ME a break. I appreciate any articles that make sense and have valid points; McDermott’s articles don’t come under these categories. The guy is clueless and is full of hot air. He says the first thing which comes to his mind and doesn’t even think of the consequences. 3 years ago when he called Meesen a potential captain and 10 year player before he even stepped onto the park just highlighted his lack of credibility. And today’s comment about how he would be willing to trade VB simply because he wants us to partake in trade week is just a joke.

Worst “journalist” in this state, and that includes Rucci.

Give me a break mate, did you read anything that Rocci wrote in the advertiser in the lead up to the GF, I tried, but it was so full of bs that it made me wanna throw up.

Then when rooch is proven terribly wrong, he digs up articles about a couple of young blokes having some "indecent" pictures on their private pages and goes finds some "oh holier than thou" person who has been offended to comment.

Have a go at Chris, yes, but please, don't tell me he is worse than rooch, talk about saying the first thing that comes into your head.

I am not sure we could even call Bone a journalist. I am pretty sure he wouldn't have done a Journalism 101 let alone a degree at university. I have read pieces of better quality in high school magazines.

The problem I have with McDermott is that he doesn't think before he says or in this case types. He will express the very first thing that comes to his mind regardless of how good or bad that is.

He made an ass out of himself many times before. This time last year he was saying how we must develop more youth but in the same sentence how we should be going after Michael Gardiner or Spider Everitt. Now that statement is contradictory at best. You want us to develop youth but you would go out and trade for a crippled trouble maker or a trouble that is in decline and at the time a 32 year old.

He comes out with some statements and NEVER EVER admits he is wrong when its clear as day light to everyone else that he is. After our season finished against Hawthron he was saying how Matthew Clarke should have been kept on for another year. Same for Ben Hart. When he got pulled up on it and provided with facts that Matthew Clarke played 6 games for St. Kilda this year due to injuries, McDermott let out a pearler "thats irrelevant because you need to give some leeway because he is not in his home state"! WTF?! Does Clarke's body instantly go into a meltdown as soon as he goes past Bordertown?!

Today's piece was no different. Sure his idea that we need to be more aggresive in trade week I agree with. He stated not long ago how we should develop the youngsters and give them more chance and how we need to get some more good youngsters onto the list for the future, yet today, he goes on how we should trade Douglas, Knights and van Berlo! WTF?!

Putting aside his blatant hate for everything AFC, at least Rucci actually puts some thought into his articles. Even if the thought is more directed as how to construct the latest dig at AFC. McDermott just shoots off the hip without ANY thought and most importantly, without ANY justification for his opinion.

Look, there is absolutely no doubt Rucci is a tool of the highest order and 99% of his articles are trash. His constant bagging of the AFC is sickening and his love for the Power and his articles about them are a joke. After the GF he even had the nerve to come out and say “Mark Williams won the week”. How that is possible is beyond me.

BUT he has the potential to write a decent article and he has from time to time, when he’s not on a rampage. But it’s not even possible for McDermott do to this, he’s just a joke who has no idea.

Agree entirely with your post, and this is the thing that amuses me.

He STILL insists we made the wrong decision with Matthew Clarke! :D He barely got on the park all season and when he did he was a shadow of his former self. Fair enough he thought we should’ve kept him, but his refusal to admit he was wrong is laughable.

That one sentence describes him best.
I think Rucci has made an art out of being an ass, and he knows it :)
