News doing the rounds is that Stasse has crawled back to lexton with his tail between his legs asking if they will have him back. By the sounds of it if it comes to a players vote he will not be welcome. Any Lexton people got any news on this? Is it true he had a falling out with the club last year?

I'm not aware of the big fella coming back. As far as i know there is no bad blood between lexton and Stasse. Stasse was keen to stay on and take over from Johnson as coach but he opted to point Lexton towards Fisher as he would have more new players come with him.
So if this is true Pocket, Lexton will be licking there wiskers

Avoca beat Learmonth by three goals in a six quarter practice match today at Learmonth.

Avoca played with 28 players to Learmonths’s 44 players, so the Bulldogs did a good job to post a win.

Not sure if Learmonth were missing any of their top liners though.

Heard from a source That avoca looked very good, young Edwards killed them, and now has a huge offer on table from learmonth as funny as that sounds!
If he plays like he did sat will give the league medal a shake you would think.
I think lexton better be ready round one/ two as avoca is firing already!
They might surprise a fair few sides!

Practice match dates and times anyone this weekend?

Talbot played Illabrook on the weekend. 6 qtr game. Think they lost in the end but were up after 5 qtrs and fielded an entirely reserves strength side in the last. Illabrook werent much chop though apparently so make of that what you will.

Unsure who their second praccy match game is against.

Went to Trentham Cup yesterday.

Left before the Grand Final but heard that Saints lost to Skipton by 2 points.

From what I saw of the earlier games, Trentham will be big improvers this year.

A lot of new recruits!

Saints looked great in patches ,so so in others ,as can happen when learning a different game plan/style ,but still missing a few senior players .will be a good combination once they get to know each others game, still ,things are definately on the up at ol Trenm town.

Went and watched the praccy match between Maldon and Waubra last weekend, with Waubra winning by 103 points. Heard Maldon had around 5-7 players missing, as did Waubra. There seems that there will need to be a lot of work had on the training track to win a premiership in 2011 for Maldon. You can certainly see the differences in the leagues, it will be interesting to see how the new clubs fit into the CHFL and the MCDFL. Maldon had some good small on ball/running players and their ruckman played very much a floating role all day, which suited him!! Maldons CHB (No. 3 - I think) had a good game. Will be interested to see how they progress throughout 2011.

Will be an interesting practice match at Newstead this week taking on a couple of 2009 Premiership players in Sam Kerr and Ethan Ford who are now with White Hills FC.

Also in response to Cousin Ben's top 3 players at Newstead: Christmas, Conn, Reece - I think you may have missed Ramsay in there??

Any other sides with Praccy games this week or prior to the season starting?

Waubra will be 1st or 2nd favourite in the CHFL this yr so you cant read too much into it. The other difference between a CHFL and an MCDFL club is depth. Waubra would have 6-7 very handy players to cover their outs, where as Maldon probably wouldnt. CHFL is clearly a better standard. Maldon will be thereabouts come the business end of the season still.

The Saints had a good hit out in the Trentham Cup last week with a couple of our newcomers performing very well. Trentham would like to thank Maryborough Rovers, Illabarook and Skipton Football Netball Clubs for helping make such a great day
This Saturday the Saints travel to take on neighbours Woodend Hesket in the Annual match which honours the memory of Leith Dicker who represented both clubs with distinction and was killed in a tragic accident. The Hawks have had the wood over us for the past ten or so years , but this year could just be our year. We have recruited very well and will be fielding somewhere near our strongest side, I will be very interested to see if the recruits can gel together and take it right up to the Hawks. This old Wombat is quietly confident of a good showing (especially by our mid fielders and key position players)
Dont want to be too optomistic but I think this unit will be very competitive in the MCDFL this season

Well if thats one of the better teams for 2011 within the MCDFL, its a fair call to say they have a fair bit of work to do when all players get on the track or it may show the lack of depth within other clubs of the MCDFL, which is sad... As i said i will be interested to see how the former Lexton Plains League teams go in this league. You're right there is very much a lack of depth compared to sides like Waubra and Hepburn in the CHFL, i don't doubt that, there is probably more advantages to head to a side within the CHFL compared to that of the MCDFL. Can someone from Maldon tell me whether they have recruited this year? Even with players missing, I honestly thought that they may have been a little better or showed signs of being a decent side at some point of the game than what they showed last Saturday. They seemed like a good bunch of guys before and after the game. Good luck to them i hope that they can get a fully fit side on the park and look forward to success come August/September.

Definitely wouldn't want to be to optimistic mate after losing to a very young and inexperienced woodend side missing atleast 5 key players by 5 goals, few of your blokes were throwing around the idea of a 20 goal win for you blokes, well just have the wood over guys for another year:D

Time will tell, time will tell.
No matter what the result it was a valuable learning lesson for us and both teams will benefit from the game
As I said we have recruited well and are reasonably happy with the weekends hit out. To give credit where credit is due the young hawks showed that they have the ability to go a long way, but having said that they have probably been together as a unit for several years where Saturday was the first time some of the Trentham boys had been on the field together.
We hope to add a few more to the list for our first game and remain hopeful of a good season and at the same time wish Woodend Hesket all the very best for the upcoming season and look forward to continuing the tradition of the Leith Dicker Cup in 2012
