During the summer Carlton supporters were telling me how ripped off they were. They winched about Porter being a star and McKernan being useless. I know its only round 5 but I think both teams got the short straw.
To me Porter has done nothing.
He looks slow awkward unfit and doesnt get enough of the ball.

Players sometimes have bad games but they show potential. I am yet to see that from Porter.

Why are we not playing Petrie in the ruck.

What do you think

I think Porter has done fine.. ok so he hasnt set the world on fire- but he didnt at Carlton either, and he never will be that type of player..

And, now we stay compeditive more like 94% of hte game rather than 50%

I think thats a big improvement..

Go Roos

Porter was very good in the first two games, and quiet in the second two. He is still pretty inexperienced as far as AFL footy goes but I think we will see a lot of him this weekend.

Corey hates opposing a physical ruckman and Porter is certainly one of those.

Port has played both the Kangaroos and Carlton. In the Carlton game McKernan was as useful as an anchor in a bath tub, whereas when The Roos beat Port, Porter was a fine contributor for them.

Porter = Hard worker
McKernan = Dud

Not too hard to figure out from there is it

Sorry but from an unbiased (in this case anyway) point of view i couldn't agree with you at all.

From the two games v Port that i saw live i would have to agree with Asgardian that McUseless (to borrow a term from Macca) is well useless and i was very impressed with Porter. IMO probably one of the main reasons (on the field anyway) that the Roos beat Port. Also Porter looked pretty good in R2. I haven't seen McKernan do jack-**** in the couple of other games i have seen Carlton.

For mine the deal is heavily favouring NM at the moment.

Blues V Roos

I guess we will find out with the two big men lining up against each other this week.

There should be atleast some stage of the game when the both ruck against one another.

McKernan will probably be used a far bit in the ruck with Allan out for the season with stress fractures, Merrington being used up forward and Hotton on report.

Good chnace that young smith will be elevated to the senoirs, who i ronically was traded from the roos in last years pre season draft.

good day to you all.

I reckon that Burton will get first crack at ruck, especially if it's McKernan doing it for Carlton. McKernan isn't a body on body ruckman like Matthew Primus, so I think that Porter will be used when Pagan decides to rest Burton.

With McKernan's timing in the ruck completely out of whack, all Burton has to do is just waltz on up and tap the ball to the player of his choice. Carlton's best chance will be to concede the ruck and attempt to read Burton's taps and try and shark the ball away or hold up the North midfielders and give Ratten the chance to win the contested ball.

Don't jump to conclusions. They have scanned him to see if he has this stress fracture. Allan's future for this season will be answered on Wednesday. If the result is negative, then it's all good. If it's positive however...

Porter. Mckernan is a dud. Has he played any decent games since 96 early 97?

99 Granny :D

North got the better of the trade, but hope Corza does alright. No hard feelings from moi.

Porter has been handy and Mckernan very average, what Mckernan has over Porter is the ability to swing or win a match or the ability to go mental.Porter is solid while Mckernan has the mad factor.

Very valid points.
I believe its still too early to call who has the better trade. I hope Porter becomes the consistent physical ruckman we wanted and hope McKernan can recapture some of the form we all know he is capable of (not this week tho Corey), he was great for us once and will always have kanga blood in his veins.

i'm with the dingster on this one. was good for us in the 99 granny.

every now and then the corey of 96/7 would pop up in recent seasons and give north hope that he'd help us back to the highs of 96. He seemed to come out with a number one cut and run amok.
i'm hoping that this isn't the week for it!

Porter is a lot more consistent I thought he had a fairly good game in the first round against the power. He has also been doing farily well in tandem with big spider who has had a good start to the year.

However McKernan is more likely to take a game apart and win it of his own boot but he doesn't do it enough.

you were obviously out of town during the 99 finals series...

I'll pay him the 2 finals I saw him play in, the 1 vs port and the GF he did ok. Still 2 years between playing a decent game. And then Another 2 when he kicked a few against us last year. Still, a hack.

Actually, I went to every norf final in 99. So that's 3 (99) games + 1 decent game (01). So I've seen him play 4 blinders in 6 years. I never could understand why norf kept him for so long. Neither could my roo mates, who all sighed with releif last year when they axed him. The most over rated norf player I have ever seen.

I think Coleman was overated... it does not make me right...

I saw the bloke play a couple of very good grand finals for North Melbourne... so you wont get me bagging him...
