I remember that goal well, put him on the map as a future star for mine. (AAHHHHHHHHHHH Hindsight)

I think it was Rd 2. 2005.

We lost in round 1. and after a pretty average 2004, and a new coach wasn't expecting too much in that year.

Honestly didn't think we would win the match, but the was just pure magic and got our season underway.

That same year tho, which i believe was the turning point in 2005, was maybe a few weeks l8er at the Dome against the Saints.

We were down by about 5 goals at 1/4 time, and from then on we absolutely pumped them and won by about 10 goals. We never looked back in that season until ironically we played the Saints again the Quarter final.

But that was the start of the Neil Craig Era, officially anyway.

Yep, it was mid-season 2005 against the Saints at TD. They got the first 5 goals on the board, and Reilly ended up nailing a 55m bomb for our first goal on the siren. We then proceeded to murder every team we faced until the Qualifying Final, when St Kilda just beat us at home (ironically).

That has really kick started the way we play as a team.

I think since then we have been in just about every match, bar maybe 1 or 2 (last yrs thrashing to West Coast being one) Even tho we haven't won as many matches this year, we are still a silly chance, just by the way we play.

Will be great once we develop our rucks and forwards further.

Talk about one of the great turning points in a club's history.

Off the back of letting it slip against the Eagles at home the week before, the side bounces back in a tricky away tie against the Pies, winning it at the death with thanks to Mr. McLeod. The rest as they say, is history.

If Macca doesn't conjure up that piece of majesty, 0-2 heading into a Showdown with the reigning premiers could've seen the season and subsequent events head off in an entirely different direction.

Good stuff.
