his game yesterday was one of many crappy displays!! undisciplined, skills letting him down and not accountable. Is there a problem or is he just havin a year to forget??even though i love watchin him when hes up and going is he tradeable??

I thought he was good. Worked hard and gave it his all. I think there would be many, many, players that would warrant criticism before McPhee.

He was absolutely shocking for you guys yesterday, his chasing and 1%'s were almost non existent. Add to that his ball skills and decision making skills are well below par, I think he was one of your worst.

With Bolton and Kepler out of the side, Essendon fans need a new scapegoat and its seems poor McPhee is it.

Never mind that he's been one of our more consistent players all year.

He had 16 possessions yesterday at 100% effectivness as well as 8 marks and was one of only 4 players who spent the whole game on the ground.

Doesn't stop people never letting facts get in the way of a good story though.

The problem with McPhee is he is not a smart footballer with the ball in his hands. He can run everywhere take marks and spoil but put the ball in his hands and you get the stop start version. More often than not he has three or four false starts before delivering the footy. In modern day footy coach's dont like the players holding the ball for longer than three seconds when they want to attack and McPhee breaks this rule a lot. When he is in the back half he goes sideways a lot. Most of the time when he gets the footy his disposal is not damaging becasue he nearly always goes to a short option.
He is tradeable and any trades should be looked at but im hoping that a new coach may give him a role on a wing where he can just run around everywhere all day and play to his strengths. In the last few years he has stopped backing himself when he has had the footy , there is no longer the run and bounce that he used to have. Get rid of the 6 pack (and no not the beer version ) Adam and put more focus on your ability to run :thumbsu:

Any examples you'd care to share with us because Champion Data happen to disagree.

I thought he was good yesterday and could hold his head up high.

Can you please elaborate on which parts you thought were bad.

Only error I can think off is when he stepped out of bounds.

so you weren't watching when solly who was his direct opponent kepted getting the ball in the clear most of the time.

and when he run to far in the freos forward pocket that resulted in a free kick to tarrant who then went on to kick a goal

Spot on.

Irregardless. He's had plenty of time to reproduce his AA form and has come up short every time (albiet injuries haven't helped). He still commands some currency. We could get a decent draft pick out of him.

Was Solly his direct opponent ?

1. That was a BS freekick. I counted his steps on the replay afterwards and he only went 12 paces.
2. The reason he held on to it was because he had no one to kick it to. If he did kick it, he would have turned it over and I guess he would have been criticised for that as well.

Poor bloke can't win.

Forgot about the one where he ran too far.

I don't have a problem with that as no one was providing an option up the ground and he was trying to create the play.

I don't think we can be too hard on any of our backmen when they have 66 inside 50's.

maybe he is the new scapegoat, but apart from kep, there is no more frustrating bloke to watch. The reason he is attracting criticism is hes a b&f winner (i think) and he aint playing like one.

its alright to go well when were up (2004) but when we're shite people like mcphee are not standing up.

screw champion data. Bowden has had massive scores all year but hasnt been up to stanndard either

Why don't we look at a guy like Jay Nash.
18 possessions, 61% effective, 4 clangers.

Oh of course, he's young so we exempt him from criticism.

Much easier to have a crack at McPhee who plays in defense and therefore must be responsible for every goal kicked yesterday despite never turning over the ball by hand or foot.

This criticism of McPhee is getting a bit pathetic now.

No problem having a go at him if he's done something wrong but don't have a go at him when he's been okay.

i have been defending him all year.. has been great for us this year. he is getting critisised due to his own potential.. everyone expects him to be chad cornes just because he was AA in 2004.. his a victim of others expectations.. so what if he isnt an AA he is still a bloody good asset to have around and all that talk about trading him is pathetic.. everyone always complains about his skills, but the fact is he has good skills, its difficult to hit a pin point pass everytime, and because we have 0 run in our midfeild there is limited options when coming out of defence... fletcher even had difficulty with that and he is imo the best kick out of defence in the ocmp

leave him alone

Thing is the decision needs to be based on his output vs talent over a prolonged period, nit just one game.

Ever since his break out year he has been very average.
One of our better players at times, that's not hard, but usually when we are playing well.

When we are playing well he is good, when we are under pressure he is terrible

He fumbles the ball, doesn't choose a good target, chips sideways etc etc.

I don't think everyone is saying GET RID OF HIM but more along the lines of lets see what we could get for him and if good enough, do the deal.

Trade McPhee?

Thats about as laughable as suggestions we would trade Lucas. After coming off two seasons of rebuild, why are people so eager to cut and burn all over again?

2008 -

Nash Michael NLM
McPhee Ryder Fletcher
Winda Watson Rama
Monfries Lucas Lovett
Davey Lloyd Welsh

Hille McVeigh Stanton

(four of) Gumbleton Slats Houli Reimers Jetta Dempsey Dyson Johns Hislop (Pev JJ MJ?)

With the ruck situation being Hille primary, Ryder secondary. If Ryder at CHB isnt going to be able to run ruck, push Lucas to CHB, Gumby on to CHF and run Ryder / Hille ruck-bench. We cant carry Hille + Laycock :(

If - IF! - the kids come on, that team will be fine in 2008. Every year the team that challanges is the team where players 11-22 come on and play above the standard. With all the "oh my how good is Reimers" type posts we see on this board I am utterly flabbergasted at how pessimistic the same posters seem to be about 08-10

Poor old Mcphee? Are you taking the p-ss?

Doesnt matter how bad Mcphee plays your the one who seems to think his s---t dont stink.

He is over rated and a passanger yet still keeps his place in the side after 2 years of this crap.

Never mind that he's been one of our more consistent players all year.

He has been nothing but inconsistent and for the most part medicore for the season.

Front runner.

He had 16 possessions yesterday at 100% effectivness as well as 8 marks and was one of only 4 players who spent the whole game on the ground.

Easy to have 100% effectiveness when you are chipping the ball sideways and backwards.

Will finish top 10 (possibly top 5) in the B&F this year.

If you want to have a bet on it, then PM me.

No Clangers?? He had 4.

Nash and NLM are aggressive. NLM will run and take players on gaining 30-40 metres then he will kick it making the occaisional mistake. McPhee gets it stops, props and then still makes occaisional mistakes.
