This is what I’m hoping is part of the plan and keeping our cards close to our chest due to the position we have put ourselves in.
However, this will be one of the few challenges for McRae to face in his short tenure.

Great opportunity for Fly over this next part of the season leading into finals. Is he going to be capable of making some hard calls at selection?
I've been questioning quite a few decisions since he dropped Ash a few weeks ago and now that we're well and truly out of form he's going to need to make some adjustments.
Think of the players who were left out of our 2010 side: Lockyer, O'Bree, Medhurst, even Leon for the replay - is Fly going to be able to make the necessary tough calls or will he persist with things like playing Adams off a HFF and Howe wherever he can hide him?
He also needs to do a much better job with Nick but I'm assuming if what happened yesterday happened in a final he'd have a backup plan.
I loved seeing Beau in the middle but throwing him AND Maynard in there for the first time this year screamed of desperation, but hopefully was intended more so to send a message to the entire team.
Very exciting challenge coming up for Fly!

Agree entirely. Fly continues to say we are always trying to learn and improve. He has to do that himself too.

For all this talk that he likes to set up players so they can succeed there doesn’t seem to be a lot of that atm.

Reminded me of an old Pies game, when Roos was coaching Melbourne. He allowed Tom Langdon to do as he pleased with no pressure. It won us the game. Langdon was nowhere near the quality of a Sicily.
Don't get me wrong that's not the sole reason we lost, our midfield group was horrible, but to seemingly have no plan for any sort of stopping role is wild to me. A bloke like Sicily you want to physically pressure him, he loses his cool very easily. Mcreery even at his height would have antagonised the hell out of him and made him work to extreme levels. You take Sicily out of that defense and the rest would have lost confidence very quickly, that creates errors, and that leads to scores.

Agree. It was one of the very few times where I think Fly got it completely wrong.
Seems to lack the ability to change tactics in game and to counter sides coaching against our game plan over a longer period of time.
I say this as some things seem very obvious but he does not change them up. Is he stubborn? Is he naive? Is he still learning?
Has he changed anything at all to counteract the fact that other sides are dominating us in general play on an ever-increasing basis?

Seriously? We have won how many games after being behind at 3/4 time? I think he has the runs on the board & player effort to contest & not allow so many uncontested marks is the issue here. We will be back.

Fly's experience doesn't make him impervious to criticism.

Only takes a couple of losses for some to lose faith.
