When I saw this thread I thought ok, I must have a read, but then I saw it was posted by Bedford, I nearly fell over. But on reading it, not quite the praise I expected for McVeigh, especially as he did have a good game on the weekend.

I think even Bedford would have to agree that he's had a pretty good month.

He's never going to be an elite player than wins games on his own but if he could keep up this form consistently I don't think any of us would have too much cause to criticize him.

Bedders, in the last 3 games, McVeigh has averaged 24 touches (of which 14.3 were kicks), 13.3 contested possessions, 5.7 inside 50s, 4.7 marks, 3.7 tackles, 3 clearances and 2.3 goals per game. He has kicked 7 goals 2 when the rest of our team has been unable to hit the broad side of a barn. I know statistics don't tell the full story, not by any means, but it's the only thing that you can use. I'm sure most would agree that he has well and truly led by example.

His last three weeks have been elite. Does that make McVeigh elite? No, not by a long shot, he'll need to put in a full season at least of playing like this, but at the moment, that's how he's playing. It is not only a great month of footy, it's a FANTASTIC month of footy. There are a lot of reasons to be critical of McVeigh, but when you don't give him credit when he DOES play well, then you lose a lot of credibility.

not a fan of Harry O, nicky? I think he's alright, can come off as a bit self-righteous at times but he's not afraid to be different and he has a very very different background to most AFL footballers.
