Medhurst is a far more complete player now since he has arrived at Collingwood, and I heard on 3AW and SEN online a few times this week about how much he has improved since leaving the Dockers, and how well Collingwood has done so far from the Tarrant swap, and Medhurst was second best on ground today as well. Tarrant on the other hand admitted after the 2006 season that he had a poor year which led to his trade, yet in 2007 he went backwards and averaged less possessions, less marks, and less goals, and now there are rumours that his future could be up in the air. Not a bad trade at all considering that Collingwood were really only interested in the number 8 draft pick to recruit Ben Reid.

Seriously, Reid may well be a future star, certainly the pies fans seem to rate him. People seem to think we didn't realise Medders could play, like he's just figured it out under the master coach. I agree that medders is playing for collingwood exactly the way he played for us, however, Pies fans seem to consider him a free set of steak knives. Their lower expectations of him result in them being much happier with him.

I always liked him and felt he was a bit hard done by at freo. Hope he does very well, except when playing us.

Yes botton age key forwards are supposed to take over games early into their second season. Hoogs & Bradesmaen = NFI. Why don't look up objectivity in the dictionary then try and get some. Like others in this thread, you haven't looked at the stats for Medhurst over his career.

He has averaged 1.6 goals a game for his career with 10 disposals. He managed 1.4 goals last year for an average of 10 possessions.

He kicked 9 goals in a game for us. His most for Collingwood has been 4 in his 3rd game, though he hasn't improved on, or mirrored that effort since.

He is doing exactly what he did at Freo, at Collingwood. We didn't want someone who can run around and get 16 kicks, but 0 handballs, as was the case on the weekend. He has the worst accuracy for goal in the league this year, because he takes too many difficult shots instead of centring or setting up an opponent when he is on a tough angle in the forward 50m.

This year he is averaging 1 goal and 2.5 behinds a game. You think that is a good performance do you. I didn't see Paul in any official best player lists on the weekend.

Go smoke some more reefer mate.

He was a more "dangerous" player at Fremantle, he could kick a spurt of goals quickly but he wasn't team orientated. Malthouse has drilled into him that side of his game, which sometimes is to the negative as he won't blaze away and take big mark / kick a big goal. That said he is still very dangerous and IMO is playing a more rounded game than anytime in his career.

Taz has more talent but at the end of the day he can't finish. If I was Fremantle I'd be spewing giving away Pick 8 in a very strong draft and Medhurst for him, he aint worth it.
