How is the elbow going ?

Thanks for asking Ceebee - the operation was a success and it functions really well but will never be the same as it was.

I have very little strength in the right arm and have adjusted to that (I picked up a 3 kg sack of oranges the other day an carried it OK but I can't do much more than that without pain and I don't want risk causing problems).

I am sure that I finished up much better off with the artificial joint than the old way of sorting smashed elbows out.

All I can say is FINALLY.

I think its obvious that the VFL meeja have collectively had one too many head high bumps and the concussions haven't worn off yet.

... And they were beaten by a bigger margin last week

... And they have a far better injury list

... And

/ Rant

Oh wasn't this the vent thread, sorry mods ☺

Leppa was unmentioned in the Melbourne media, there was zero heat on him.. up until last week.

Plus if you swapped the saints season for ours so far, the heat would be on AR and not Leppa. Ive seen this raised on a few threads, I dont see how another coach doing just as badly, not being mentioned as much as our coach (for one week) really impacts us at all?

The media here in Melb has gone full circle this week, like the angry mob in the Simpsons.

Starts off with...
- how terrible are the Brisbane Lions. Pathetic effort, lack of leadership blah blah blah

- Leppas head will be on the chopping block. Lost the players, no wonder players leave every year. His coaching record is the worst!

- uh oh if the lions are really bad this year they MIGHT ask the afl for money assistance. Grrrr " how dare they - big deal if they spend a $1.5 mill less"
- even worse they MIGHT ask the afl for priority picks . Nooooooo!
This coming from Collingwood and hawthorn supporters ( history will show they have been beneficiaries of this)
- media personalities lighting more spot fires in the crowd. Ironic a tigers supporter with numerous premierships calls out...." but what about the doggies, saints and Melb " they haven't won a premiership in yonks! Can't help Brisbane they had their shot, they f**ked it up, no way, let them stay on the bottom.
- oh but their academy thingy is giving them too much of an advantage. ( comes from big head ed) that's not fair...... Oh big deal if we have poached their young talent and paid peanuts for them. That's their "Kulcha" problem not ours.

- get rid of them they have very small supporter base ( only then realised that the latest multi billion dollar rights must consist of the lions) yeah well as long as it's beneficial to us.
-put a team in Tasmania. That will fix everything!( Gill face plants into sign )

- who cares if they are in a non afl state. ( afl stands for Australian football league durrrrrr!)

That was the week that was...
Queue Simpsons music!

Notice there's been some querying media coverage of the Lions - in particular; do the journos with the Lions round ask tough questions?

I'd have to say they don't. I think there's a handful who are matey and would sooner be friends with Leppa and the players. Then there are others who simply aren't confident enough - which is a shame.

Additionally, I think Greg Davis is slightly compromised because the club flys him out to away games

Huh? This is the first I'm hearing of it, does this actually happen?

Closest confirmation I could find on the Tweet
But yeah, Davis has been a common feature at our away games. Not sure about Hammo but the club must be putting them up
Nah I thought that was the deal the AFL struck with News Ltd to have increased coverage for the sport, so I imagine it's all their money paying for it, not ours.
On top of that Steele is the one writing up the game reports for the Lions website.

Didn't realise such a deal was made. Misread the scenario as an agreement with CM for increased exposure... my bad

From this Tweet, I take it morale's pretty low in the Lions media department...

Yes I know what you mean. It reads, I know we are sxxt. Anyway here are the few passages of play we executed well on the day. Tough job indeed!!!

Get Rocky involved being a Benalla boy.....Josh is from the Swan Hill area. Sort of same area of Vic. Rocky could tell him how wonderful it is to play for the Lions........um, yeah well he could embellish it a bit I suppose.

Not the thread for it but seriously would be silly if we didnt make any offer to jerka.
