They have both been tipped to go top 10, but which one deserves to get picked up first, and where will they go?

I would like to see Meesen go first, as i believe he was the best ruckman in Victoria this year!

Wood is going to be a better player than both of them, therefore Hawthorn should select him with Pick 7, but if he wasn't there I think Meesen is the next best 'ruckman' as Deluca does have the egde on him going forward!

Wood and meesen aren't very good around the ground, so richmond should go for deluca with pick 12 if he is still available.

deluca is worse than meeson around the ground! meeson ave 17.1 ppg in TAC Cup 2004 with 9 goals in 16 games compared to deluca only ave 9.3 ppg and kicking 6 goals in 14 games.

imho i believe meeson to be the better prospect ... but woods is imo the best ruck prospect in the draft then meeson and prolly deluca ... i hope we take willit with pick 9 btw ... and draft maybe maric with 25.

Meesen by a country mile

Has anyone seen deluca play or are they judging him on a comparison to his brother?

Personally i think he's nowhere near top 10 standard and if he is then this must be a very weak draft.

If i was to select a ruckman in the top 10, he would have to be able to dominate games of footy for long periods, which Fabe can not.

Well the Hawks coach said he was most likely to select Deluca or Meeson at pick 7 so that in itself is a pretty good rap.

Both he and Wood would be selected top 10 on the basis of that dangerous word - upside.

Neither are superstars in their own right, but that's because they are both skinny 203 cm kids.

Goalden judges this years elite crop of ruckmen to be better than the McIntosh, Laycock and Johnson crop of ruckmen two years ago and they went 9,10 and 24? from memory.

Fabian Will Develop Into A Superstar! I Agree Meeson Is A Quality Player But Clubs Will Want The Player They See Will Develop The Most Whether That Be Deluca Or Meeson But For My Pick It Is Fabian.

*They've both kicked 6 goals this year
*Fabian has averaged 9 possesions a game this year, telling you that he does nothing around the ground
*John has averaged 17 possesions this year, which is excellent for a ruckmen

Going by that I would take John Meeson, but Fabian Deluca is still a very good ruckmen/forward

Deluca is still 17 and will develop given the right enviroment. He is very agile for a bloke his size and good below his knees. Meeson is also an excellent ruck/forward.

Deluca is one year behind Meeson in terms of development and experience, and with young ruckmen, i think that one year is an incredibly long time. It is obviously a lottery with ruckmen in the draft but i think that Deluca is a better player now than Meeson was this time last year.

Meesen averaged 20.8 total hitouts per game this year. I'm unsure about Deluca because Eastern don't record hitouts. Meesen played 16 games including 1 final this year, and Deluca played 13 games, including 4 finals.
Just some stats for you!!

Deluca on future potentional but john on the this seasons form!

Its simple you take the future potentional therefore deluca for me!

personally having played with meeso all year i think he is a superstar in the making...very agile for a big man can play anywhere...dominated all year in the ruck but also down forward very consistant possesion wise where deluca was not.. also plenty of development in him weight wise...and a top bloke to!

Look at Deluca's stats, Meesen thumps him around the ground. The age of the tap-only ruckman (ie. Matthew Clarke) is dying, you need all 18 people out there getting hands on the leather.
