Mel Gibson and the Singing Detective

Have just noticed that the BBC series from the 80's, "The Singing Detective", is being given the old Hollywood makeover with Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jnr in the Michael Gambon role. I fear it will be absolutely appalling.
