I'm flying down tomorrow to see our boys hopefully crack it for a big win on Sunday and I have booked myself on the 5.45pm return flight.
My question is will I be cutting it a bit fine to get to the airport?
I wasn't really thinking when I booked and now I'm a bit worried.
Also, what is the quickest way to get there? I usually get the Skybus but being so short on time I'm not sure if that's the best option.
Please, fellow Swannies give me the benefit of your local knowledge.

You will be able to make it back to the airport on time for the flight itself, but what time do they close check in, in these modern worlds a lot of them like you to be there an hour before the flight. For that you will be lucky.

If you could get a cab you'd be there pretty soon.

I fly a lot so have the routine down pretty well.

If you are flying qantas you can check in online (if you have no luggage). Not sure with Virgin but probably yes. If you do this then you save a good 10-15mins. You can arrive 20mins before departure and still be fine. I do it all the time. Just stroll straight through.

A cab is best option if you can afford it. Should cost around $40. Traffic will be ok once you are on citylink. Allow 30mins from the dome because a lot of people will be leaving at the same time.

Anyway, if you're in a cab by 4.45 should be no worries.:thumbsu:

Yeah I flew to and from Melbourne last weekend for the Hawthorn game with Virgin, you can check in online 24 hours before your flight and pick your seat :thumbsu:

I caught the Skybus from Southern Cross station, but as I'm not sure where the Dome is in relation to that, I guess a cab would be your best option.

Head straight to the front of the cab line! Don't look just jump in!

Don't take much more than a carry bag! Don't dress in red or white yet!

Ask the cabbie" which team do you follow"?

If he is a Mel-bin smart arse and replys.... " Nah..who do you follow"?

Say: " same as you" that stuffs em every time!

Tell him there is a big TIP in it if he get's you there on time

TIP: "Swans will win":D:thumbsu:

Thanks for the advice guys. I thought a cab would be my best bet, just a little uncertain if I had cut it too fine for time.
Let's all hope it's not a wasted trip. :thumbsu:

It is right at the Station. Takes 20 minutes. Is just as quick as a cab most of the time & costs less than half.

Is that any different to Sydney? At least here the drivers actually know where they are going. And can speak decent English.

I have had cabbies in Sydney not know the way from Central Station to the SCG FFS!:thumbsd:
