As a football traditionalist it saddens me deeply that a team can bring our great game into such disrepute through blatant and premeditated cheating. With their recent, sudden and unexpected rise to finals mediocrity the Demons are clearly benefiting from their now confirmed tanking sins of 2009.

The AFL must act immediately and deduct all of Melbourne's 2019 premiership points (lol) and suspend them from all games.

Starting tomorrow. It's really not necessary to play tomorrow.

Like at all.

EXCLUSIVE: Secret documents reveal multiple senior Melbourne Football Club staff blew the whistle on a conspiracy to lose games during its controversial 2009 season.
The Herald Sun has obtained more than 80 pages of transcripts, hidden until today.

They expose interviews conducted between AFL investigators and Demons players, coaches and officials in 2012 as part of a league probe into allegations of “tanking” at the club that season.

The files include a stunning confession from the Demons’ 2009 coach Dean Bailey.
And this
“What was said to me was, if I win games I would get sacked,” he told the AFL investigators.

“I was threatened. Yeah, I didn’t like it. I think it was a terrible thing to be bullying and harassing not only me but the rest of the staff.

“Absolutely, I knew if we won those games, I felt that I would get sacked.

Shameful and disgusting and just quite sad for our game :(

Merge them with Essenscum.
Look I understand this is the bay, but to suggest we merge with a cheating club like Melbourne is really quite disrespectful to us.

I'll ask that you keep your comments appropriate in this thread from now on please.

Careful mate, you've hurt Melbourne's feelings and your post will be added to their banner tomorrow night.

Sorry, what the AmateurFixedL should do is pull out the old wet lettuce and hand them a number 1 draft pick as punishment.

Actually that isn’t is crazy as it sounds, have you seen what they do with number 1 draft selections? o_O

Who did they draft with those cheat picks?
3 first rounders in Tom Scully, Jack Trengrove and Jordan Gysberts plus the first second round pick in Luke Tapscott.

A cheat draft bonanza that I think we can all agree gave a huge advantage to Melbourne* (once they all farked off).

I think a fair punishment would be to make Scully, Trengrove, Gysberts and Tapscott sit out for a season.

Huh. That makes the philosophical question "who profited more from cheating, Essendon* or Melbourne?" a tricky one.

well Scully has finally made on to an AFL list, dunno what happened to the other 3, did they ever play?

Lol at Gysberts and Tapscott.

Trengrove would have been a gun if not for injury.

Dean Bailey has released a statement: "I'm shocked to be sitting here, I take full responsibility and think we'll be in a good place when this is all cleared up".

In unrelated news, French parental payment agencies have contacted Bailey for comment.

I think they have paid their penalty already then.

If they lose to Essendon tonight the investigation better be reopened immediately
you just ruined my Friday night, thought it was a different game on.
