Sorry to waste an entire thread on this, but I know 3 people already whose lanyard string stitching has come undone above the clasp and resulted in lost memberships - so be aware!

Pretty ordinary for round 4 but have a look and stitch them up or glue them (mine's loose already) because I've lost mine in the past and it's a pain to organise a new one :thumbsu:

Anyone who needs a new one PM me. I never use mine. Well just the once to strangle silly Uncle Reg after he wiped my tape of the Collingwood game. But it's clean now.

Tape....WTF, hasn´t technology reached the Apple Isle yet Thylacine.....

while we are on things membership-cardish related, has anyone who has a silver memberhsip card used it to get into the MCG, if so where did you sit. i am over for the adelaide game and am using my card for the first time and am not sure where i can and cant sit ie what stand is the General admission area and so on.

You can enter any gate except through the MCC which is Gate 2 IIRC and the AFL Members' Reserve which is Gate 8 IIRC.

Being a Carlton home game, the bottom level of the Olympic and Southern Stand are reserved for Gold members. If you want to sit on the ground level, your best bet is the Ponsford but unfortunately that is right behind the goals.

Great view from the top of the Olympic Stand though :thumbsu: If you head as far over as you can towards the MCC members, you are pretty much on Centre Wing :)

True that. Personally, I love sitting top tier (have never sat levels 2 or 3, so can't compare with those) on the flank, as you get a great isometric view of the entire ground and can see the play evolve. Can't stand level one behind the goals - although a mate of mine who I go with loves it down there for some reason or other.

much appriciated. not sure on the olympic stand option, as not a great fan of heights.

it appears so, but we'll see how we go. it might not be as bad as i think.

Believe me, it's bad. Sitting there against the Bombers game, I spent half the time looking up at the scoreboard, not knowing what was happening. Went up to level 4 after half time, for a much better view of the game.

so the players dont look like ants from up there then?

Get there early, sit as close to the fence as possible, and it's a great view. Sitting up the top sucks.

My single worst experience at the football was when I sat level 3, last row at the Dome, directly behind the goals for a half. Not only could you not see a thing, there was no atmosphere to speak of (as you'd expect with no one behind you). Fortunately, we moved to the flank after half time, for a much better view, both atmosphere and viewing wise (though we might have taken a couple of guys seats who'd gone for the half time break, going by the dirty look they gave us. :D)
