Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

It's a little bit different.

Warnock has declared that he's coming back to melbourne and the clubs chasing him are in a different position to collingwood.

I'd say that Melbourne, Carlton, Richmond and maybe Essendon will be the main interests, but none of them will give up their first round pick.

If it's just for draft picks at best they'll get will be pick 19

How is it different? Wood declared he was leaving. Sure he wasn't out of contract (I think), but its not different in that there are many clubs after him.

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

Wds was not worth a 1st rounder and either is Warnock, freo should be happy for a lat 2nd rounder for Warnock, he is going to meloburne anyway for nothing

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

He'll go to the Dees for sure. Whether it's with their PP at 17 or their 1st pick in the preseason draft, it'll happen.

He'll go where he chooses and if it was the Dees, he would have chosen long ago - not left it this late. He's going where he'll get money, opportunity and to win. Something he won't get at Melb.

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

to this day, i still think c'wood overpaid for Wood. Warnock is better but wont command a 1st rounder

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

actually he's said that he and his manager will work proactively to get the best possible result for Fremantle which indicates that he's unwilling to screw Freo over by going to Melbourne for nothing.

Well we were desperate for a Good Young Ruckman and It was a Weaker draft so There was not much need to keep the 1st Rounder unlike this Draft and the 2006 Draft

Good to see someone believed that - it will help him as he packs up his apartment in WA to not have crazy Freo fans heckling him as they drive past.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

You do realise all this article says is you have dropped 1 mill of your cap (which is good) however - if you are trying to get to 92.5% ...that actually only gives you about 350-400K extra.

Add to this that you are going to need to add a little bit to re-sign Green.

The loss of IPrimus is a million too and you have a lot of cash pledged but not collected nearly 2 million.

1. Oh yeah, your post has lost all credibility already. The MFC will be debt-free by Round 1, 2009.

Sure mate ....in season during your 150th anniversary you have collected about a mill ...even if you get that to 3 million and collect every cent.

Please tell me where the other 2 million in debt reducation comes from, and at the same time cover the 1 million in lost sponsorship and the 100K to your last sacked CEO?

Add to this (according to this thread) the 1.2 mill you are giving to Robbie?

Oh and to quote your President

Stynes said the debt reduction program would cut the club's debt in half, to a more manageable $2.5 million.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

I was merely pointing out to you that your suggestion of Pick 35 being offered would simply not cut it. You will either cough up more than 35, or you won't get Warnock. I guess that's Melbourne's call.

I completely agree. My sources have confirmed that Carlton is Robbie's preferred destination, but I don't believe that he'll rule out Melbourne, due to various connections, which gives us a very reasonable chance.

If we really really want Warnock we have pick 17 or 19 up our sleeve. This will make life difficult for Carlton. We can't rely on the PSD and will have to trade. Pick 35 isn't a realistic option.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Well I hope not. Football is a business and we have to be ruthless about this sort of stuff.

Last time we got a ruckman from you we gave you picks 2 and 18 - and in return had to put up with a decade of bitching from Freo supporters saying qwe robbed you.

I think its about time we showed you what robbed really means.

If you want to think like that its fine with me, Maybe Morton might get home sick one day and us or the eagles could do the same back or any club with any player for that matter.
Especially if all the clubs know thats how you like to play the game.

I think Melbourne wouldnt be as ruthless as you so im not to fazed.

I would still have rather had Jeff white than pick 2 + 18 anyday.

Do guys honestly still think you got ripped of after the service he gave you?

Like i said before i wish him the best and he has his reasons,
Early second rounder and i will be happy.

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

Collingwood would much prefer to have Warnock than Wood. Warnock is a couple of months older but looks to be a better player than Wood. I think the Pies expected alot more from Wood this year even if he is only 21 years old.

They expected him to be the #2 ruckman & hoped that he would provide the support to Fraser. Unfortunately for them they have had to rely on Bryan.

They got Wood with the view of solving there ruck problems that killed them in the preliminary final against the Cats last year. It hasn't worked out yet but he is still young.

For me, Warnock is the better ruckman and looks to have the brighter future.

Collingwood paid wellover the odds for Wood - a first round draftpick is gold any year. How can you justify giving away a first round pick for a spud like Wood by saying it was a weak draft. Surely it is way too early to judge the merits of the 2007 Draft. The likes of Kreuzer, Palmer and Cotchin have made great starts to their careers. Face it mate the Pies made blue giving a way a first round pick for a spud as they were desperate for a ruckman. Only proble is they sold the farm and got a bigger spud that the two other spuds in Fraser and Bryan already on their list... Potato pies in the Collingwood ruck division...

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Mark Harvey is not well liked by the playing group, expect more to leave. Everytime I post something on this it gets removed, but as you can now start to see, it is fact. More players want out but as they are in contract or not in demand they are finding it hard.

If this is the case, which i dont think it is,

Then goodcuddles was to much of a well you get it...

If these players cant handle the heat then get out of the fricken fire.

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Win Win for fremantle, especially if robbie prefers carlton but does not mind settling with melbourne. Carlton's second rounder for him would be a fair trade, and the only thing melbourne have got better than that (which fremantle would want) is their first rounder (after the PP pick). So Fremantle get pick 19 for warnock, which is above his current trade value (not talking about potential). Win Win. Gives Freo picks 3, 19, 21 and 38ish.

Re: Warnock Simmlar to Wood Trade

Wood 204cm 105kg 4/3/87 from Adelaide
Warnock 205cm 95kg 19/1/87 from Melbourne
Griffon 202cm 97kg 14/1/86 from Freemantle

Looking outside the square trade:
Warnock to Collingwood
Wood to Adelaide
Griffon to Freemantle

Late draft picks to balence

They all end up at their home states, they are all of a similar age, everyone wins?

Of course your gonna say that because you're a melbourne supporter and are hoping he comes to your club.
Wood has done well for his first year, plus he is young, a better judgement of Wood will be put aside till next year.
See how he goes next year, with agood pre season under his belt.
I reckon Wood will be better than Warnock.
What has Warnock shown ? I don't even think he is doing very well in the reserves,in the WAFL.

Correct.

Just because the Pies paid over the odds for Wood doesn't mean Warnock, who is a better prospect IMHO, is worth the same or more.

He IS leaving, so he is worth the best offer.

In this draft, with the sides that are after him, that will be about pick 19. If Freo don't deal up then its likely his (mooted) preferred club will just take him in the PSD with pick 1........so why pay over the odds?

Pies had to pay big last year as they didn't have the PSD as leverage to get him cheaper.

Played very well when Sansilands season ended last year + showed lots of promise in the games he played this year.

You should watch him more before you give you expert opinion and go just on hear say.

ROFL. You idiot.

Were Kruezer, Cotchin and Palmer available at our first round pick? Pick 14, btw.

The draft had some quality early on, but it fell off afterwards.

Ruckmen take ages to develop. How can you call him a spud when he's still a young ruckman?

ha, too late mate, you're not getting rid of Wood so soon. ;)

Re: Warnock homeward bound

Add Neita's 600k, Dutchy's 350k....

Player payments have never once been a problem for us, in fact, 2009 might mark the first year we've ever paid under 100% of the cap.

Yes as opposed to when you took Jeff White from us and went over the salary cap
