AFL Club
Collingwood
Judging by the falling membership, falling attendances, Pies supporters are sending a very strong message to the club.
The club may as well just come out and tell us what the game plan is, the players sure don't seem to know so it's not going to effect the way we play. Every opposing team seems to have worked it out accept our coaching panel.

I hope the crowds and membership continue to drop. It would be the first time I can remember the supporters actually standing up and sending a message.

Hawthorn will have more members than us next year (if they don't already this year) so hopefully we stop hanging our hats on being the biggest club in Australia and realise that even we need to be successful on field in order to retain that status.

I don't understand the message of this thread.
Is it to point out that supporters aren't going to the games because they don't know what the game plan is? If that is what you're getting at then my guess would be falling attendances would correlate with the fact we are not winning.

Honestly, if we were winning and you didn't know the game plan would you be as concerned about it? If the team was going well would you still refuse to go to games because you didn't get the game plan?

Maybe we don't register all our pets?
Re membership numbers, with all the categories of membership it's a it of a PR war, but ultimately does it really matter which club has five more people as official members?
Yawn for me

Snap!
Win, people go for often, lose, less go.
"Game plan" is in my view a mythical term used to conjur up some "deep" meaning to something like when lawyers use jargon. Meh, win win win.
That's the best game plan ever

10,000 fair-weather supporters. It's good to trim the fat every once in a while.

I'd imagine losing to Carlton and going 2-6 is enough for the club to realise something is going wrong....well hopefully

Have been a member for 8 years still a member this year, have not gone to a game as i was in the states for the first couple weeks and can't stand to sit in the stands and watch us guard space, we have the worst game style in the comp.

Does this qualify as a fair weather supporter?

Our membership numbers really must be down by a fair way, simply because the club hasn't officially posted any updates.

The past few years the club has gone out of it's way to tell us how many members we have at intervals leading up to the May deadline where "official figures" end. (clubs still continue to try and sell memberships after that date anyway).

It's anyone's guess as to how many haven't signed up again, but it's a significant number, and I for one don't begrudge any of those who haven't re-signed.

You tell me, we were back to playing finals again 8 years ago when you first signed up. So... unless your age comes into it...

Anyway, not being a member won't change the gameplan or injury list for that matter, losing enough games would be the better influencer. We're on the same side here. I hope there is change like everyone else.

I think it is well known why I did not renew.
Not the game plan, not the W/L ratio.
I will not be a member of a club that has knowingly signed on convicted sport drug cheats as part of our playing list.
When those two are gone, I shall resume membership.

Or they want better team management from their investment

Maybe, but clubs having less members when playing poorly compared to more members when playing well is nothing new. I don't really think it's sending much of a message to be honest. It's too hard to separate the "bandwagon" members (for lack of a better word, every club has plenty. Although I don't begrudge people not renewing, people can do what they want with their money and some people might not have the financial freedom to purchase a membership every year) from the members trying to send a message just based off membership numbers.
