Well I was leaving the sydney game about 5 minutes from the end when I looked across to see mr wallace walking out. My mates and made a few jokes, I said, we got picks 1 and 4! My mate asked why he wasnt wearing a sydney jumper.

Anyway, to cut it short, we shook hands with Terry and started talking as we walked towards the cars. I am really impressed at him, he has an air of confidence (not arrogance), but he also seems to see the job in front of him. He talked about the past 8 weeks down at the club, basically saying that a lot of the players had tuned out to the coaches message due to the fact they knew he wouldnt be there next year.

All I said to him was I hope he could change the attitude of the players, now seeing what has happened.

I can only say this, he seems to really want to succeed. If he turns the club around, well he will put himself up there with the greats of the club.

As I said, good luck terry!

i too saw a dapper looking Terry Wallace departing the MCG with a few minutes to go, must say he was smiling like a cheshire cat with the knowledge we have pix 1 and 4 tucked away and the leverage of PSD No 1 pick.....he couldn't give a rats clacker about the wooden spoon....Tell me who was the old codger with him, I saw him on the news at Punt Rd with Wallace today

It is interesting to read he is bringing a number of ex-Bulldogs to the RFC to be involved in coaching/recruitment.

I am just curious because he didn't exactly leave the Bulldogs in a fantastic position after he quit the club and he didn't have the confidence of the players there much like spud hasn't.

Do you really think he will turn things around long-term?

I've always thought Richmond where a much better team than they played this last few years and expect there to be a lot of improvement just because of the number of good quality players at the club, but I am not sure if he is going to be the miracle maker people expect him to be.

I wasn't overly impressed with Royal during his year at North, I guess he didn't have a lot of time to have an impact but am not unhappy that he is gone. I do not think our midfield improved with him focusing on that area.

What are your opinions and are they just based on hopes or is there more substance to them?

I think once you start referring to a coach as a saviour then you are setting yourself up for dissapointment. I am happy that we got Wallace as I believe he is the best available. I think he has the tactical nous and the ability to really have an impact on players.

But as big a dud that Frawley is , not all the crap will walk out with him and be cleaned up by Terry. Talk about Terry turning around players is just letting them off the hook as those who had game time had an opportunity have shown what they are - not up to it. Even our younger players are getting bigger rapts simply because they are contrast against a dud mid senior level of our list - Only coughlan has suggested he will be a gun player.

I think we are so sick of people like Frawley,Brittain,Marsh and etc that thier departure is morale lifting in itself.

PS - That Royal was quick to move from the Roos may have meant that for some reason or other he didnt have a good or workable relationship with Laidley. That can stifle an assistant coach. Just a guess but I like the appointment.

Well said LC_15, me being one of the mates with you :)

All we asked of Terry was that he make us competitive. We aren't to fussed if we lose (no team can win all the time) as long as the players really have a go. At this comment Terry laughed and said "I care...".

He had a very positive attitude about the club and was assuring to us everything would be ok. As LC-15 said, the club has been a circus since Spud resigned and players did what they want.

I would say the club has been a circus for 3 years not only since the resignation.

Firtt point - We are better off with ANYONE ELSE but Frawley.

His absence already means we'll be better off.
No more aimless match plans or mindless cliches in which surely the players were bemused.

A whole new level can be expected from the team as is.
It wont be grand final stuff but nevertheless a marked improvement,
just proving how far backwards Spud and co had us playing.

He must never return to Punt road.
