I wonder if the train announcer man had to change it to "Metro trains apologises for any inconvenience caused"

Apparently they are changing it completely- that PA message. No more use of the word "apology" they are actually going to say "sorry".

Yeah like it matters.

It'll be the same people, just different owners. There not briniging in new drivers and maintainers. They just get a different shirt.

Bring back The Met I say :D

12 service cancelled in their first 9hrs :P

There is also a rumour circulating that the "sorry" will be spoken by Kevin Rudd.

Good luck to them. They have inherited a nightmare. It will take time to fix. Hopefully they do manage to do a good job.

lots of the problems are with the infrastructure, which is the governments responsibility. until that's fixed our trains are always going to suck

No idea what happened on the Glen Waverly line this morning but no trains were running.

Pretty poor start for Metro, however I give them credit as I signed up to their new free sms notification service and got three texts before 9am saying there were major delays and to look for alternative methods of transport.

Overhead lines came down.

Times like these I'm proud to be a bogan. No room for me in a metro society let alone on a metro train, good thing is you wont hear me bitching.

Northcoat isn't really a bogan neighborhood, is it?

Besides Broadmeadows... northern Melbourne suburbs really don't bet bagged a whole lot, than again, no one really raves about them either.

Connex did this too didn't they? I never signed up for them but I was under the impression they were free.

Australian public transport (and in particular train systems) will never be any good, because Australians are idiots who couldn't organize a root in a brothel.

I'm in Singapore at the moment.... now THIS is how you run a public transport system. :thumbsu:

Yes, Melbourne is larger, requires more infastructure etc..... but let's get serious.... what our cities have served up to us when it comes to public transport has been a disgrace for years.

Dirty, smelly, dark, unsafe.... I refuse to use public transport in Melbourne. The only thing I touch are taxis, and they too are disgusting.... drivers who have no idea where they're going, stinky bo, maniac drivers, etc etc...

I feel sorry for all who have to use public transport in Melbourne.

Then when you get back I hope you have small fortune. Taxi prices have gone through the roof lately. I live 10ks from the centre of Melbourne and the last time I got a taxi it cost me $50, an increase of nearly 100% in about 4 years. I don't know how it happened, fair increases didn't seem that much, but it did.

Train was delayed, finally got on at Malver. Waited 10 minutes WITH THE DOORS STILL OPEN, before they kicked us all out onto a tiny platform and the train went on its merry way...

I have to laugh, there have been more train cancellations & delays since Metro took over.

Punlic transport sucks, but if that is your mode of transport no use whinging about it.

Public transprt has alway been crap.

I had one train delayed 15 mins, but it was because some punks vandalised a train so I can't blame 'em for that.
I hate the "Metro now arriving at...", it's not like it used to be "Connex now arriving at..." so I don't see why they had to change 'train' to 'Metro'.

This.

Lol, funny story.. I was staying with a friend in England for a couple weeks. Her flatmate came home from work and actually complained that he had to "wait for a train for 10 minutes".

10 MINUTES!!!!!

We should be so lucky...

Yeah, the Tube never breaks down or stuffs up. LOL.

The advantage of London tho, if one line stuffs up/shuts down there are alternative ways of getting to your destination- still using the tube.

Here, a line shuts down you are ****ed. Maybe not if theres a tram line nearby.. either way the system is slow and desperatly needs to be upgraded.
