Saw this bloke at the steps of Flinders Street Station and managed to locate an image. Good to see someone keeping Metro in check, even if it is a betting company.

I remember the service sucking when I went down to Melb to see the Lions play. Wonder what Metro think of this?

Facepalm at the OP thinking the betting company gives a shit either way. They're advertising and you've just done some for free...

Do wish the trains were on time though.
It's not like no one's aware of who metro are...

I like those odds, basically giving away free money :D

Catching the train to the city the other day for the first time in ages, get to the station about 7 minutes before train is due to arrive. Buy ticket, get down to platform, 4 minutes, thinking awesome timing... Zone off listening to music while i wait for the train to arrive, next thing it barrels through the station, look up at screen and see it showing 12 minutes. Turns out the train was running behind so just "skipped" my stop. Apparently this is their latest tactic to keep trains on time and it works out better for a few to wait so the rest can reach flinders on time...

Might not be that easy. I've seen a fair few of their posters saying that they've met the target for the month. They only have to get a certain percentage (86% I think the Sportsbet poster says?) and they have a few minutes leeway to be considered "on time".

The station skipping really annoys me. My station is major so I don't have to worry about it, but I find it disgusting. It's allowed in the contract they signed with Brumby and the Baillieu Government doesn't really see it as much of an issue.

I've been on a train once that went straight from Werribee to Newport, skipping Laverton which is a fairly major station. It's a joke really, their target is 88%, and they're currently running at 91.3% on time which is the highest that I've seen it.

Sometimes skipping stations is necessary to avoid flow-on effects (i.e. the alternative is that a service gets cancelled completely at some point) however I think that Metro should be penalised for any station skipping. I think what Jonesy10 was getting at was that on time running is measured only at certain stations and therefore skipping other stations isn't penalised under the terms of their contract.

There's no way known V-Line trains are more on time than Metro trains.

Although V-Line trains do have better seats. Incredibly comfortable.

I never have trouble with V/Line. I always see people complaining about it, but I guess I just get a dream run :p
There have been a few nightmares, but they usually can't be helped.
Yes on the chairs :thumbsu: and if you get on during off peak, and when a lot of people aren't travelling, it's so quiet and peaceful.

The worst I've had with Metro is a train being late ten minutes or so. That sort of stuff I've never worried about.

I've had a couple of V-Line trips were there has been an hour delay due to servicing and that is really quite poor. Have heard worst stories as well.

That being said so many people whinge about the serving and most of the time unnecessarily. I remember a couple of months ago there was a suicide on the Bendigo line and a subsequent half hour delay and it really was quite pathetic to see the number of people bitching on Facebook that night. In those instances the train line is hardly at fault.

My worst is a 5 hour wait in Werribee on a 35 degree day :p Missed the only class I was going to uni for, so headed back home when a bus came. That's a rarity though.

Yeah, a lot of people complain about it for no reason. Gets a bad wrap, but it's ok.

No shit eh. Always assumed the next train was an express when that happened.
I used to be on lilydale line, but now on a line one third that size so generally pretty good.

On a slightly OT note; does anyone know why metro say you have touch myki off and on even though you're using myki pass? Are they gathering stats? Can't work it out, and even after asking them this they still insist you must!

Im not looking forward to Myki in Melbourne whenever I go there. Usually my V/Line ticket allows me on all Metro trains, so I didn't have to buy a metcard. Does anyone know if that stays the same?
