Article In today's Herald Sun.

It's hard to see the MCC wiping our debt dont you think? We haven't exactly see eye to eye with them In recent times. In saying that I can only see positive things coming out of this if we reunite, Membership, Sponsorship..

I look forward to hearing more about this.

Sounds interesting, but I can't say I know a whole lot on the differences that this arrangement would make to our club. Anyone care to expand?

I can't exactly see what is in it for the MCC, and I'm not sure if it is the greatest idea for us, but I am sure that the clubs have to get along and that we need some support from them now. The board needs to work out a way to grow our club with "common" supporters, getting more people through the gate and Casey may help that, but also if we get all the MCC members back and passionate we can draw 20k to a Freo game at the G easily and stay alive whilst we try and get more support.

Interesting to read the "club was born out of a stadium, not a suburb" line. It really sums up our history. While Melbourne may have been full of residents 100 years ago, it has slowly emerged into a CBD and the only main residents are now yuppies or poor uni students. There are no families living in the city, haven't been for decades. Whereas other clubs have been able to develop from a suburb and build there following from there, we haven't had a traditional supporter area.

It's true but is used as an excuse way too much. Hawthorn was based in Hawthorn but then did a lot of work building out towards Waverly, the dogs have embraced the western suburbs, Essendon out north west as well and St Kilda have gone bayside, those clubs have tried to use there starting suburbs to grow. But Collingwood, Carlton and Richmond are all inner city clubs who have supporters everywhere, maybe Carlton got alot of Italians due to location but Richmond and Collingwood haven't got all their supporters in their suburbs, they attracted and maintained supporters from everywhere.

To get back we need to get another area of supporters (the MCC would class as one area) or maybe two, Hawthorn have captivated the Waverly region and Tasmania, we should try and do that with Casey. The second thing we need to do is to win a flag to be popular, we need kids wanting to go for Melbourne. I think we have the lowest auskick kids supporting us of the vic clubs, that is horrible. I think we still have a lot of older supporters (maybe it's cause I'm looking but I see plenty of melbourne bumber stickers - usually they read melbourne 04 or 05 or 05, I'd like to know our membership retension rate), but we need to have a future wave of supporters.

Don't kno whether our whole debt would be wiped, but hey if it is then im all for it. Anyone who wants to help us out i welcome with open arms.

It could make a big difference to our membership, I'm not sure of the details but I would think that If we reunite with the MCC we finally get those supporters that are MCC members as Football Club members?? Correct me If I'm wrong but wasn't that a major part in us wanting to reunite? Given the percentage of Melbourne fans that are MCC members we could do well out of this.

Just not sure what would be In it for the MCC
