i saw on the news tonight that neil craig may be after signing michael gardiner, i think this is a good move.

get him away from his bad influences in perth and he could get back to some form, when firing he is one of if not the best ruckmen around.

and could be a good target up forward to aim for put the ball on his head and he would outmark most defenders, could kick 60-70 if he stayed fit.

Why? I think this is a beat up

The AFC have an experienced ruckman and 2 good up and comers and also Hudson coming back from a knee injury

If and only if Clarke does pull the pin ( and the sound bite on 9 news said to me he has made his mind up to go) would you consider it.

If anything the AFC would keep Clarke on as 4th man out Gardiner , for all his upside I feel he will bring a club, would not be my choice as the experienced ruckman. Its not about his ''issues'' but more the fact that I dont know if he fits NCs profile of players he wants at the club

Gardiner at his best is a very good player.
He and Spider were probably the only two ruckmen that gave Primus a hard time when he was in his prime, but that is the point, Gardiner at his best is very very good.
Will he ever be at his best again? If the answer is yes then he is worth chasing with all you have, if no then ...

If the AFC picks up Gardy, it would be the worst ever decision by the AFC.

Hes unfit, Hes injured and he is serious trouble

Depends entirly on what Clarke does.
I'm sure that the club would rather keep Clarke than go after Gardiner, Spider, Auckland or any other ruck trade.

Gardiner would cost a bit too.

I would rather take a chance on Polak
:thumbsu: Yeah that's increasingly my thinking too......it appears though Richmond are very very interested in Polak

ahahahahahahahaahhah. No that is NOT going to happen.
There is no way that West Coast reject is going to be playing for Adelaide.
Adelaide has a history of making these type of "panic" drafting choices ......and they have rarely turned out to be smart decisions.

You mean like nearly trading our last years first round draft pick for Damon White. So instead of having a young possible gun midfielder we have just another average tall in the Perrie, Stevens, Kenny mode - Just what we need.

Why don't we just take Gardner and give West Coast Maric and Meesen becuase that's pretty much what we would effectively be doing.

Surely, this is just a beat up.

Why? because look what youre left with if Huddo goes down again! M and M will still take a while to come on fully. they will get there (but look at the ruckmen in the AFL, they generally start later and finish later - even Will Minson spent two years on the boundary without a single game - and two of the best rucks going around (spider and Doc) are both in the over 30 bracket. i feel that we are leaving ourselves wide open to severe punishment from opposition teams without a second experinced Ruckman! Meese will still likely get game time in the forward line. from what ive heard it sounds like they have been preparing him more as a key forward (not sure if this is true)!

Also, i'm pretty sure that Doc Clarke wants to leave. if he stays it will be purely for the club! Word has it that he has agreed to coach West Gambier (his home club) next year and that he wants to go home and work with his dad.

The vibes I'm getting are that the club are showing a distinct lack of faith in Hudson/Maric/Meesen.

This is disappointing.

Meesen I have no idea about but I'd be very surprised, actually make that extremely surprised, if what you say is true about Hudson and Maric.

Definately NO

Even though it is only right for NC to be pusueing all options but if he went ahead with this trade i would be very dissapointed.

Maybe in the pre-season draft if we are stuck for another ruckman.

Exactly what I was thinking. After M&M get a full year on the track, I don't like Biggies chances of coming back. I'd like him to, but I don't know if he will.

All I can say is ... thank God someone else is being linked to that screaming hack instead of Carlton.

Gardiner = massive mistake.

How many second chances does this clown need.

His best is way behind him, he's got bung knees and is a rotten egg.

I hope you get him!

 Can you list some of these 'panic choices' that are such a part of our history (in the last 6-7 years, anyway)? Apart from Carey, of course.

What "vibes" and what is "this" that is disappointing? All we have is a media report that the club has denied, and at worst the possibility that the club is considering an option for covering the absence of Biglands and Clarke.

I agree that Gardiner should not be an option for our club, but I don't see "vibes" of "lack of faith" in the current players.
