Should've had 2 goals surely. It'll be forgotten cause it didn't effect the end score, but to me it didn't look like Lake touched it and the goal umpy, in perfect position, got overruled?

That decision to overrule the Gardiner goal was f***ing ridiculous. How can the boundary umpire overrule a goal umpire when the goal umpire is in the best position and it is his job to decide whether it's a goal or not? You wouldn't see a goal umpire overruling a boundary umpire on whether the ball is out of bounds or not. Didn't affect the result in the end but may have been costly if it was closer.

As for Gardiner, he was superb. Helped break the game open in that 3rd quarter along with Riewoldt. His ability to get forward and kick goals is a real asset for us and hopefully he can do more of the same next week.

I think the decision to give him that rest a few weeks before the finals has really freshened him up, he seemed to be playing a bit tired in last years finals.
