Michael Jackson - Dead

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

i've got to say i've heard some of the worst journalism i've ever heard in my life today over MJ's death - all from british journo's.

today on BBC news the chick behind the desk crosses to the an australian journo in sydney - her first two questions:

"what sort of following did Michael have in Australia??"

followed by

"and did Michael sell many records in the Australia-Pacific region??"

then later on another news report a british guy is on the street's and interviews a young lass he asks "have you heard the news of michael jackson's passing today??", the girl say "yeah i just got told about half an hour ago" and the reporter then asks "so what do you think??"

seriously what ****ing sort of questions are those??

but the best was this one to Serena Williams:

http://wtawomenstennis.co.cc/3283/wimbledon-2009-serena-williams-interview-26-june-2009/

first question of her post match interview (for all this guy knows serena might have hated his music or him as a person):
What did Michael Jackson mean to you personally? Would you think about dedicating today’s victory perhaps?

i'm sure Serena loved that one, thanks for putting me on the spot mate....

I think he means that one who isn't talented will take advantage of it. I can already see 50 butchering it and using MJ's brand to cash in.

I'll put money on it being Flo-Rida or whatever his name is. Seems to half rip off everybody else's songs.

the sad thing is nickelback probably aren't even the worst.

They'd be right up there, that's for sure.

:)

Your rock shit isn't welcome in this thread, though. :thumbsd:

;)
Haha.

I was kind of living with three metalhead stoners when Dimebag died. Was huge. Death in the family is an understatement, as, even when I've actually had family members die, the outpouring of grief and mourning I noticed/experienced doesn't even come close to matching that of a bunch of grown men off their faces bawling their eyes out to Cemetery Gates on repeat.

:D:(

I know you're a Tupac fanboy, but come on....

My parents probably wouldn't have even known who he was.

That's true, but people all over the (third) world knew who he was. His death was more widely known than Cobain's.

For the younger generation at the time, Tupac's death was massive from Liberia to Brazil.

Theres only one Tupac song I heard before he died and that was California Love. Only reason hes 'famous' is because he was shot. To suggest Tupac is in the same universe as MJ as a musician is laughable.

Tupac was very similar to MJ, in that they both influenced the image surrounding their music, more than they actually influenced the music.

Maybe you just aren't an avid music fan? Because Tupac was very well known before he was shot.

It's great to see that on a board where everyone likes to think they know every thing you need to know about music, that the majority are full of shit.

"good pop songs and nothing more"

and then Tupac is compared to him?

Lmao thanks for the laughs!

I'd like to hear this rationale for MJ being compared to Lennon. The guy wrote pop music, and it was pretty hit and miss, in fact, he hasn't been good since the early-mid 80's.

Prince shits on him as a pop music writer and performer.

He's a good pop artist, who tried to prolong his career too long and tarnished it. He was influential from an image point of view, but not a musical point of view.

Tuapc is a perfect comparison (I'm not even a big Tupac fan).

did anybody really foresee michael jackson living to a 105?

it had to come some day

i was talking to a few of my friends, they thought he would still be around for at least another 20 or so years

so what if he lived longer? people wouldve forgotten him even more over that amount of time, before he died everybody pretty much moved on from him> forgot about him

it was only now that he died that people are talking about him again

the thing that did shock me was that he was "only" 51 years old. it seemed like he was around for longer than that (ie a weird looking 70 year old man), even though all that plastic surgery on his face has made him a freak

BTW, Lennon would never have released anything remotely as shit as the following:

Scream
Remember the Time
Black or White
You are Not Alone
You Rock My World

Jesus, there was true shite in his catalogue, I'd say he released more shit than good quite comfortably. I love the revisionist look at it all though, deluded!

He was a pop star. It would be like Rihanna dying (except Rihanna is hot and not a pedo so thqat would actually be worse).

you do know he was set to play 50 shows in England at the same venue?

This is the Music board and I'd like this thread to stay as such.

Glad to see plebs have been mostly ignored. Jokes and one line "witty" remarks can be taken to the General Discussion or Humour Board if you think it's relevant.

Cheers.

listened to his songs on his myspace.

just sounds like mainstream regular hip hop to me

Methinks you have no idea and are incapable of listening to lyrics.

I'm a big fan of music in general, so there's heaps of Hiphop out there that I like, heaps of everything out there that I like. But if you hate an entire genre I imagine its just because you're ignorant and don't really like music at all.

you actually think those are good lyrics?

yep i have over 500 cds, no hip hop albums so i must not like music at all

lol at idiots saying mj would've been forgotten about

his last album was released in 2001, and before that 1995.

his last full concert was in 2001 and that was only one show. before that his last tour was over a decade ago.

however, he sold out 50 ****ing shows for 2009 after not making any music for a shitlong time, with millions of tickets being sold in a matter of a handful of minutes.

This is just the plain truth.

Idiots can't handle it though.

Says something about people forgetting mj's music and only being known for the controversy.

Laughable.

Regardless of what YOU personally think, in music he was epic until his death.

He was popular, sure. But popularity doesn't mean you're good.

^i havcent been following your post so not sure if you're being sarcastic regarding hiphop lyricism.

Anyone who understands the aspects of hiphop writing knows that ridiculous amounts of talent is required to write good lyrics.

He was popular, sure. But popularity doesn't mean you're good.

Agree with both your sentences.

I'd also like to add that many popular artists are in fact good. MJ was absolutely one of them.

I bet those 500 cd's are shit though. Lyrically no other genre compares with Hiphop, by any rational evaluation.

all the popular kids in high school liked rock and you only had your hip hop beats and continious rhymes to get you through being alone?

then you prove your worth of music knowledge by coming on here and comparion MJ's death to Tupacs :o

you have your own thread to discuss your shite genre that is hip hop.

and it is shite and i know me saying that will tear you up inside.is that link the best of hip hop you got? that was embarassing.:)
