Well we have been training for years under Voss "the next man up" strategy. So in theory next man up should know their role and what to do (but quite frankly even first choice best 23 look confused).
They don't look confused, they look "scared" and panicked because they think forward to the loss (and the consequences) and go to water instead of thinking about what they can do in the moment to stop the loss happening. IMO the club needs to invest heavily in addressing the players mental side of the game and leadership via professional help.

Modern game is run and support, overlap, creating width, space and run and defensively blocking up space. The best sides are drilled on where to run and deliver the ball. Pies and Lions are masters of it

Go watch them live and it's like watching a chess match. Everyone knows where to go and when

As Voss has admitted numerous times we focus on defence and contest. That is our game style.

It is chalk and cheese
Run with the footy, that's how you break down zones and score.

Run down the opposition. That's how your defend/pressure.

These are the two major keys in modern football. It's what Collingwood have been elite at for 4 years.

It's our weakness. It was evident when Voss was playing guys like Cincotta over Cuningham and Ed Curnow aver a red hot form Dow that he does not value these aspects.

This is how he has failed and why he should go.

This shapes how we play and how we recruit.

When did that happen? By the time Dow started hitting his straps in the second half of the year Ed was long gone from the league team. Dow ultimately lost his spot to Walsh and Cerra in 2023.

Ed Curnow played 17 games in 2023 whilst paddy Dow played 10. Both were gone for the 2024 season

Voss is playing blokes like Docherty who scrub kicks and small forwards who cant kick a 30 meter set shot. He had Weitering playing on one leg and Cripps playing with a fever. This is the culmination of another year of injury or absence to irreplaceable players and list which lacks the leg speed and footy brain to do things easy. IF you are going to lose to a beter team that is fine- but getting beaten is a different story.

It is horrible and ugly watching a CLub melt down in front of your eyes - I suspect the coaching group has lost the plot - knowing that they are are in all likelihood - the walking dead.

You only have to watch Docherty cuddling opposition players or Charlie playing water pistol with opposition to know that the players have checked out as far as belief in winning games goes. It is a fractured playing group too many senior players playing their own agendas.

It stinks, smells and is an insult to 100,000 members.

The place needs a reset - big time.

Ed Curnow played 17 games in 2023 whilst paddy Dow played 10. Both were gone for the 2024 season

Early in 2023 Dow played reserves during which time Ed was preferred, but after initially failing to impress in the league side and being dropped, eventually Dow came into the side for the final part of the season and played quite well. By that stage Ed was not much more than a spectator. Dow didn’t play finals because Walsh and Cerra came back from injury and forced him out of a midfield of Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy, Hewett and Cerra. Which one of them would you have wanted Voss to drop to allow Dow to play?

Also, they werent competing for the same spot that year. Curnow played very little midfield time. Was doing the Cottrell type role. Half forward and a bit of wing, often after starting as sub.

Compared to Dow who by that stage had proven he was a pure onballer so could only really replace other onballers.

If Voss has any feelings for the club he must resign.

Everyone involved with the club have lost hope. Players are just going through the motions.

The same could be said of the players. Cripps got dominated by old man Pendles. Charlie man handled by Darcy ****ing Moore. Weitering outsmarted by Elliott. TDK looked like he was on holidays. These guys are the leaders of the club. Some of them have quit on 3 coaches. Maybe some of these blokes should resign too.

The clubs in absolute free fall right now. I see three or four wins max from the remaining fixtures.

Melbourne possibly, Port Adelaide and the Bombers. There might be a chance against the Suns as well, but it's sad to see Vossys reign as coach go so badly wrong.

The players of course obviously don't have much pride in themselves as well, to just surrender like that against our biggest rivals.

A coach out of ideas and a playing group that have obviously stopped working for him. What a horrible and disastrous combination.

Bombers the only game we might win. The rest are guaranteed losses unfortunately.

The club & GW in particular has a very big job obviously.

Thank god we have a “football” CEO with experience across playing, list management, coaching - importantly from a big club with a passionate supporter base.

His arrival aligns with the club & supporters want for change to turn the page - so he clearly has the mandate.

What type of football team do we want to be?

  • adjust the list where needed to build capabilities in areas deficient.
  • bring in a coach who thrives in strategic game management & our targeted winning game plan.
  • build resources around said coach with value-adding skills.
  • don’t change (emotionally) for changes’ sake.

The key to it all is having a clear picture of what we want to be - we got a view of that last night.

we're passing beyond sakc into resignation territory
It has to be managed internally to ensure either outcome works to CFC benefit.

There has to be a plan on the other side of sacking/resignation that’s linked to our clearly defined goal.

Would we have developed a clearly defined goal as yet - with a clear strategic plan?

How would the club benefit from moving Voss now, or his resignation?

I’d love to see GW’s whiteboard.

Just sack him now and give the players a bit of freedom and a final chance to prove something for 2025.

We waited until the very end to sack Teague, that gave us no benefit.

We sacked Bolton mid-year and won 7 games from there didn’t we?
Better to sack him with a few weeks to go imo. Whoever is coaching us next week is going to be coming in to a flogging vs Brisbane.

Give Hansen a crack for 3 weeks at the end to hopefully finish the season on a bit of a positive note without giving Lloyd any chance of doing a re run of the Teague Train 2.0 and appointing him head coach for 2026.

Sack him after the brisbane flogging next week

Dont give Collingwood the satisfaction of having their arch rivals coach sacked

Yeah that’s probably fair. Also Vossys bday on Monday 🤣

I hope Michael Voss resigns and doesn’t give this group of frontrunners the satisfaction of getting yet another head coach sacked. Maybe he can even tell them that during the 3QT break next week and then quits on the same night.

Michael Voss the player will always be better than any player on our list who have now given up on three head coaches

Incredible player and Captain. Left or right foot/hand it didnt matter, lifted his own game and that of everyone around him.

There’s about a million reasons why this won’t happen…

Talk to Voss and get him to announce Brisbane game will be his last to complete the circle he has between the clubs. Could be fitting somewhat to end things that way and farewell his first coach by awarding the medal.
