does anyone see him surviving all this
I can't see that scenario happening honestly. I know we all love this club and want the best for it, we don't all see eye to eye on how we go about that but at least we share a common love and passion for this team. But it's just hard to see any outcome other than us letting Voss go. I feel for him a bit though as the death threat was unacceptable on any level, the media speculation is clearly taking an toll on him and it's not nice to see regardless of my personal opinion on his ability as a coach.

There's one question that Wright needs to consider... Are there better coaches available (and gettable) than Voss who can have us performing at a higher level? If no, stick with Voss. If yes, like most of us believe, then we thank him for his service and move on from him.

Just a little exercise. If you were to rank the current 18 coaches factoring in everything such as their tactical ability, motivational qualities, ability to set standards, adjustments on game day etc.. where would you have Voss ranked? I'd say most of us (obviously not all) and even most opposition supporters would consider Voss to be in the bottom 5 coaches. To me that feels like we are tying out hands behind our back before we even run onto the field. In AFL every little facet makes a huge difference as most teams are very close. Both controllable and uncontrollable things impact. An extra days break often has an impact. A good coach has an impact etc.. The head coach is a massively important position. No point starting at a disadvantage with a weaker coach.

We can't also point to situations where teams have stuck with coaches who have subsequently gone on to turn things around. That's very rare. For every situation where that has occurred there's multiple instances where it has not. Sometimes in life you have to admit you made a mistake and move on from it and not be scared to make that call because of media perception or previous coach sackings. It's not like Voss is a new coach and still green. He's had what 8 or 9 years across 2 different clubs to use everything he has learnt. He's preached that we need better consistency since year 1 but 4 years into his tenure with us and we haven't even remotely improved our consistency not only within games but within seasons.

Each year is a rollercoaster and I personally don't think that will ever lead to a positive outcome. The great teams and great coaches embed a gameplan and it becomes a second nature to the players. There's no confusion. Every one knows their role. We lack that. One year we can't defend but can score heavily. The next we have a good defensive profile but cant put a score on the board and have multiple goalless quarters. It always feels like we are reacting and chasing our own tail rather than having a cohesive game plan that works.

Reckon it was milked by the media to create more of a story
I reckon it was just as deliberately used by the club to temper the negativity towards Voss from the supporter base. They would've known from minute one what this message said, and that it clearly wasn't a threat... but didn't come out and say that, and were very happy for the narrative to be a false one. We all got played from both media and our own club on this one.

The club had nothing to do with the investigation. They never released a statement, they never commented on it. The MCG were the ones who passed it on to the AFL intergrity unit. Reckon it’s harsh to put any blame on the club for this

you don't think the club didn't know the contents of the message when Voss held his press conference? Very easy for them to put out a press release stating that despite media conjecture that Voss received a death threat, the message while in very poor taste, was not deemed threatening by any party involved.

I think the club was happy with the media conjecture.

What Voss said was still relevant, even if the comment wasn’t as harsh as it initially seemed. He never acted as if his life was in danger, and he wanted to move on when the journos asked more than 2 questions

Well l think I'm well and truly done for the year after this absolute shitstorm

Got tickets to the Port game, which l will attend with friends, but going to distance myself from the club outside of that.

I'll no doubt invevitably check in on August 15th because curiosity killed the cat...

I feel for Voss' kids who may not understand the nuance of the situation, but that's about where my sympathy ends. It was clearly just a joke (albeit an insensitive and mean-spirited one) and the club has milked it for all its worth to throw the media & supporter heat off... Mirroring the same spineless ineptitude the leaders of the playing group are putting out on-field currently

They have well and truly broken me as a supporter this year... Decades of mediocrity but this is what finally does it

I'm walking away for my own mental health

I'm sorry Dad, l just can't keep going with them right now. And it kills me to admit that, as l love the jumper, but l should have made the call much, much earlier in the season for my own well being.

Yeah it's a melt, but the club is melting right before our eyes

At this point, it feels like a bigger risk to keep Voss for 2026 than to cut ties. Similar to the end of 2018 when we should have moved on Bolton, only to stick with him for 2019, fall to 1-10 and then sack him after wasting a season in which we’d traded out our first draft pick. All sounds very familiar.

While I’m expecting Voss to depart and think it’s the right call, I’ll be disappointed if Lloyd isn’t the first to exit. Hard to see any coach succeeding under a football department run by this guy.

Sort of feel the same. Just remember, its only a game.

I don't think so. Only chance is if there are no good options. I think the assistants will be cleaned out.

His vision for the game is and in his time at Carlton always has been poor and that has shaped this slow, unskilled out dated list we have.

Wright has not shown to have the paitence or the standards to accept what is going on at Carlton.

Great post 👍

Are Voss, the club and the media going to come out and apologise to us members for labelling us “toxic” and “not welcome here”. For a soft ass, joke message. From a fricken Collingwood supporter!

Just another example of the club driving a deeper wedge between the club and the members!

No one was complaining when Voss coached us to a Prelim or had us second on the ladder this time last year.

Players under Bolton were confused.
Players under Teague were confused.
No players under Voss are confused.
Ill hazard a guess and say they'll be confused under another coach, one has to ask the obvious question.

Out of the side at the minute are Silvagni McKay Walsh Newman Kemp Cottrell Elijah Hollands Acres (banged up) and Smith. All easily best 22. Classy mids, defences generals, hard runners, classy half fwds. Everything we are missing right now.

Not making excuses, just saying there are reasons.

2023 team was well developed. Probably our best team since rebuild.

2023 we were luckiest we’ve been for a while. Coming back with strong individual quarters (basically playing 1 quarter kicking 6-8 goals - a long trend). Getting Port who were up top and decided to rest many, lots of wins just won by grit and a healthy Charlie and in form Cripps, with Walsh hitting a Dale Thomas small patch as best player in the comp.

Probably not because that didn't happen.
