The Carlton community has collectively annointed Graham Wright the key man to turning this all around. There is a chance that he backs Voss in and changes the footy department around him... Are the supporters willing to accept that?

I am personally happy to back Voss in if Wright sees fit. If he does get Wright's endorsement that is after 12 months of reviewing the footy department and canvassing the playing group.

I can see a John Longmire type as Head of Footy, a Hinkley as Senior Assistant and then young go getters around them.

Time for the players to drop the loser mentality that has besieged them and go after it.

I can't see a reversal of the relationship between Voss and Hinkley happening. Maybe they get on well enough that it would work, but a few years ago Voss reported to Ken, and flipping that is something that I could see causing some headaches.

Players are like Soldiers. Without strong Leadership and Culture you will struggle. If you don't believe and trust what you are being told you are done

Losing or Winning mentality comes from the Top. Anything else is words

Adam Simpson this morning

"When you lose the locker room you are done. You can't come back"
Some of the recent commentary on fox footy in particular has focussed on what is talked about in player locker rooms and how it can impact on game day performances.

I guess there is the Hardwick and possibly Thompson stories that could be perceived as players coming back and backing tge coach in but they might be totally different circumstances. 🤷‍♂️

I disagree, you only have to hear Weitering or Cerra speak to see their mindset. They accept the current situation and give themselves outs.

Mindset is the biggest issue with this club, anyone thats been inside sporting clubs knows the most authentic and sustainable change comes from within the playing group.

We can’t keep blaming coaches for the way our players approach their careers/performances.

It’s not just the coaches but the coaches lead the players. And a real great leader wouldn’t allow this. The best leaders change mindsets

The best platoons always have the best Sergeants who have the best COs

What you talk about is all good in theory but it isn’t reality

I usually agree with everything you have posted, however, the bold is not necessarily the general rule.

Agree the Sargeants are the glue (Team Leaders) Good or Bad CO's aren't.
The best platoons rely explicitly on their training and then on their Sargeants. The CO just give the orders.

They literally lip read Voss telling the leaders it was deplorable.

The players regardless of who is the coach have to put a stake in the ground and flip the mindset and mood of the club. The rest of 25’ is on the playing group.

Because they are cooked

For three years they have followed and done everything asked. They are now going backwards and coaches keep telling them the same things. Should the players now not do what the coach wants?

Human nature to fall away when you don't believe or trust anymore

Voss isn’t the one that turns to shit once things don’t go their way. They need to start thinking like winners and not retreat into their shells once the other team starts coming at them.

As I said if Wright ends up backing Voss and changing the rest of the footy department I will be on board. Will you back Wright’s decision if he goes that way?

From what I’ve heard Wright has spoken to a lot of well respected footy people, with an eye to beefing up the footy department and sacking Voss hasn’t been mentioned.

Time will tell, but I think a few players are being closely watched and how they tackle this period from inside the club.

It’s not just a coaching issue.

I have never said it was and have been consistent in my thoughts about Culture and entire club. This discussion/topic is about Voss

It's fine to say the players need to step up but that has NEVER happened once the coach has lost the players and IMO they have given him nearly three years of effort. Sadly, it hasn't worked

I deal in facts and reality

The issue is so much bigger than 3 years… If Wright after 12 months reviewing the footy department ends up sticking with Voss and makes changes around him, are you willing to accept that as a Carlton supporter? At the end of the day we have no idea of the workings inside the club.

I just have suspicion that everyone is gloating over Wright as they believe he will sack Voss, going to be very interesting if he doesn’t. A lot of supporters have already made their beds.

Just read the article on the AFL website about the support to Nicks and Bevo via Murray Davis and Matt Egan.

Interesting read and while I have no idea if Voss is staying or going it highlighted the need for the right type of person and support provided to the senior coach and how it has freed up the coach to basically narrow the focus of their role.

Obviously given their respective seasons to date the article is saying how quickly things can change for the better without wholesale movement.

Whispers or credible sources?

The key person who sets the culture is the head coach and then his line coaches. They need to be aligned!!
The coach sets the standards and the expectations. The playing group leaders and subsequent line coaches should implement. If the coach does not, then he isn’t doing his job, if the leaders or coaches aren’t implementing, then they get replaced. Every other player will toe the line, once the expectation is set by this group, if not, you either move them on or reprogram.

Ps. I’m not talking about game plan. That’s another point of discussion.
