They can't leave Freo alone can they ?

Ok Harvey has made mistakes but the media has really been unbalanced with him ..

- He inherited the oldest list in the competition (compared to West Coast being the 10th oldest).
- He never said we would make top 4 extra (where as West Coast said they would)
- We have maybe 4 or 5 premiership players in our squad (where as West Coast have about 16)
- He has been competitive in each game bar Richmond (where as West Coast have been a shambles)
- He has a sense of humour (where as Worsfold is Mr Misery)
- He is amiable with the media (where as Worsfold is very testy and at times downright rude)

Clearly the West Coast dominated media have taken a set against him. Maybe a combined anti Essendon/Victorian thing. But it is pathetic ! And they are working their best to get rid of him. Great deflection from their own club backing up a disgraceful drug culture with an inept onfield effort this year.

He was not my first choice (Laidley was), but he deserves more of a chance and the media are again unprofessional and an embarrassment. The Eastern states media (Walls etc) just take their lead from the WA media on anything from here just to polish it off.

He looks like he has the respect of the players and they certainly have ben unlucky not to win 3 or 4 games more given how close 6 of their losses have been already. I hope he stays but I would not be surprised if he thinks what a pack of dogs the media is here, you can stick it if you don't want me !

Gee we need a second daily paper here so quickly to get some balance. And get rid of the WC sucking cronies so we can enjoy some balanced coverage.

I hadn't actually seen the "on the couch" segment until just now - Harvs actually handled himself quite well, and he did the same on footy classified.. Sure he isn't polished, and he isn't making jokes, but he is a first year coach, and his team is 1 and 7.. If it was Mikc Malthouse acting that way he would have just been said to be "guarded" and making important comments about how certain players can get targeted.

I agree with you guys...Mark Harvey is copping an unfair rap. We were 9-6 last year and then didn't win another game and look where we are now...they said Rocket was under pressure and questioned his coaching. The media just needs to drum up stories. I have one question: why do people take any notice of the The West anyway?

I stopped buying it weeks ago, it's a worthless rag. It's readership has dropped big time, cant hurt to push it down further.

I still think that, considering what's on offer, Mark Duffield is one of the best footy writers. He does criticise clubs for bad performances but also pays the credit where it's due if they are going alright. I never detected any bias towards any club. Most times his views are pretty balanced and insightful.

Digby Beacham is however sensationalist and loves cheap shots. He hates Freo's guts.
Ray Wilson can at least be funny to the point that I enjoy his articles.

But the other rag has surely the worst journo in the Oz - Kim Hagdorn. Can't stand the bloke, his articles are crap and his radio "jocking" is no better. He's worse than Caro. He makes more sense when he talks/writes about cricket. Brad Hardie's column is just about the only thing I read in the whole Sunday Times and the only reason I actually buy it is because my wife likes that gossip STM thing. Waste of $2.20 if you ask me.

This horror run only seems to allow them to justify all the crap ever written about Freo. I don't seem to recall the media getting right behind them on the 9 win streak of 2006, All I saw them do was move toward neutrality. They just stopped putting the boot in.

Compare that the the constant gushing over WC, and making their excuses for them, no matter how badly they go. CH7 sponsorship of WC is the worst case of media bias in operation. It almost rates up there with Eddie calling Collinwood games and using CH9 to flog his club at every oppotunity.

I'd like someone to hand Baz a TEE calculas question written in Hebrew at after their next loss (he won't have to wait long), just so he could openly say, "Sorry, I can't ask Woosha hard questions."

I still think we deserve all the crap we are getting AT THE MOMENT, you cant be 1-6 and just lose to Melbourne after being up by 50points and not expect to get hammered by the media. Im only talking about the present time not the pathetic media bashing that has gone on in the past.

Shocking loss? Absolutely. Will the additional anger and frustration the media whips up fix anything?

I agree Freo are underperforming (again), but that only seems to give the media carte blanche to sink the boot in further than they would to any other team in the same situation.

With the Eastern media for example, would Walls' treat Lyons the same way, or Bailey? He doesn't. In fact Walls' continues to back these blokes. But anyone who follows this team knows Walls' to be a black hole of idiocy, riddled with an agenda. Unfortunately a lot of people really think this arseh*le is some sort of expert.

Some of this would be curtailed if Harvey goes on the front foot against blokes like him, and I think he looks like he wants to - maybe just finding his feet with the media. Walls' was a crap coach who used questionable 'motivation' strategies, and has done nothing to qualify as an expert in this area, yet he gets to tell Harvey how to do the job?

You go on the front foot with blokes like Walls' and the tryhards like Baz over here will think twice about going toe to toe.

When Robert Walls had a go at Kevin Sheedy a few years ago, Sheedy said why would he listen to a guy who had a coaching record of less than 35% win/loss. That is the best way to answer a tool like him!

He is a moron but i don't think he has an agenda against Freo - his only agenda is to sound like he knows what he is talking about to perpetuate the myth that he is an expert.

When he questioned Harvey about Tarrant going missing in the second half against Melbourne because he had one possession it was quite obvious he didn't watch the game and see how many times (or lack of times) the ball went forward of our centre line. If he had watched the game, he would have known that the ball was nowhere near Tarrant and not try to blame him for the loss. But he didn't watch the game, he saw the stats in the paper and found an easy target. That is what people like him do.

Having said that though Freo don't deserve much good press. Its hard to talk up 25 points up at 3/4 time v Cats and lose and 50 points up v Melb and lose.
