Oh of course not. With the Eagles being such a great side and all.

Please Jod. I am not even going to bother. And if you think your midfielders have more skills than Pav, you have to be kidding. No-one in your side can kick bullet 65m passes.

Pavlich just isn't that big of a danger in the midfield.
He's got around the ground but isn't a danger in the centre contests. He's agile for his size, but his to big to be a danger when the ball is on the ground.
As for pace, he's too slow of the mark to be a dominant midfielder. I would be much more nervous about him if he were playing CHF/CHB.

lol....going a little overboard there Kenny. I suppose Pavlich can kick 110 metre bullets that never go more than 5 metres off the ground!
Not even Buckley can kick bullets 65 metres...in fact any bullet pass isnt going to go past 35, 40 metres. Every kick that goes 60+ metres is going to be a torp or spiral.
If Pavlich has better foot skills than Cousins, Wirrpunda or Judd then Im the Pope.

And why arent you bothering. Seriously, who is Pavlich going to match up on. He wont be quick enough to stay with any of our midfielders, he doesnt have clean skills close to ground. Wirrpunda, Judd, Cousins etc can scoop the ball up off the ground at full tilt, Pavlich cant do that because he is simply too big.
Imagine him in the midfield, Gardy taps it down to Judd and Pavlich is half a metre behind him. Forget it, Judd with leave Pav in his wake, fair enough Judd leaves most in his wake but Cuz, Kerr, Fletch, Punda, Jones, Braun...hell anyone will move away from Pavlich pretty quickly. He is a liability in the midfield.
However if he is played at CHF or CHB, he could really have an impact on the game.

Do you not remember the last derby? He ran around the ground, picked up possesions at will and set up a lot of goals. And Pavlich is quick.
And even the pre-season derby... which Pav was in the middle in the first quarter, he got about 8 possesions, kicked 2 goals and it was no coincidence we were 3 goals up.

Haha, you honestly think those 3 players have better foot skills than Pavlich?

lol...I thought you were just messing about, being Derby week and all but you actually believe that Pavlich has better foot skills than Cousins, Judd or Wirrpunda....

Actually, some food for thought #2- if the AA side was picked today on form, how many WC/Freo players would be in it?
For the Eagles, Phil Matera would have to be forward pocket, Gardiner is clearly the best ruckman in the league, and Wirrpunda would push for a place as the best back pocket candidate going around. Judd might snag a place in the midfield or the flanks if he got lucky.
For Freo, Hasleby has clearly been one of the best midfielders around thus far, Pav has been okay, but noone else suggests themself?

In all seriousness
R:Gardiner, Kerr, Judd
Simmonds, Hasleby, Bell
C:Fletcher, Cousins, Embley
Headland, Carr, Pavlich
Some interesting matchups- food for thought-
Given his indifferent form of late, will Fremantle risk leaving Cousins unattended so they can use their #1 tagger on Judd or Kerr? Ideally for West Coast, Judd matches up on Carr best-
Will West Coast run any tags? if so, who? Hasleby and Pavlich are the two key guys who need to be stopped, but given the relative strengths of the two midfields, they can probably only afford to 'waste' one player in a tagging role- Chick might be the go in either case- strong enough to handle Pavlich, good tackler, and fast enough to make him accountable the other way.
Kerr v Hasleby shapes up as a good battle- both in outstanding form.
For West Coast, Wirrpunda, Chick, Banfield, Wooden etc will probably spend serious time in the midfield, for freo the second stringers are McManus, Walker, Cook and co.
With so many threats around, it probably all comes down to
Gardiner v Simmonds. Both have been in pretty kickass form of late, and personally, this is where I reckon we can win the game- If Gardiner gets on top, our midfield will win out, and if that happens, we're sitting pretty. For Freo to succeed, they're going to need either a career best performance from Simmo, or to utilise tag-team tactics like Adelaide did, probably a trio of Simmonds, Longmuir and Sandilands.
No matter how well Gardie plays WC'll need greater support from their ruck backup if they're going to get 4 quarters out of Gardiner.

Im astonished also. Kenny, you are usually pretty level headed but this one is hilarious.

OK, I'll start a poll on the main board.

Would Chick be fit enough to run with Pavlich? He missed a few weeks and Pavlich can run all day. And if that were the match up WC set, I think Pavlich will move forward as much as possible because he will be able to outmark him.

Bell actually has been playing forward a fair bit more this season. He even got 3 goals in the weekend.
And BTW,
<Kenny> who do u think is the best kick out of pavlich, wirra, judd and cousins
<ozzult> pavlich easily
There you go Jod. From one of your own supporters.

Best kick...means little. Best kick could be easily substituted as longest kick which Pavlich obviously has, although Wirrpunda can kick it 60+ pretty easily. I hope you made this clear in your post on the main board, I havent checked it out yet.
Im talking skills. Hitting targets, looping well weighted kicks over a player, small kicks, long kicks, check sides, both sides of the body etc etc. Cousins, Judd and Wirrpunda all have easily better skills by foot than Pavlich does. Can Pavlich even use his left?
Yes, I am talking small kicks, long kicks, check sides, both sides, looping kicks, etc. Yes Pavlich can use his left but he only uses it as a last resort.
Cousins kicked two fantastic goals off his left as if he were on his right. Cuz, Wirra, Judd...dont have preferred sides...they just kick it. Pavlich already is proven to be behind them in the skills department if he cant use both sides. Well he can use both sides, but one is obviously weaker than the other.

I mean c'mon Jod, Cousins' main weakness is his kicking. He doesn't much penetration at all and can't kick long distances. His foot skills are what lets him down IMO.
Wirrpunda... usually a pretty decent kick. Can kick it long too. Does kick quite a few clangers though. What did you think of his disposal on Sunday?
Pavlich: 62 kicks, 2 clangers
Wirrpunda: 67 kicks, 12 clangers
and if you were interested in Cousins' and Judd's clanger stats...
Cousins: 53 kicks, 7 clangers
Judd: 51 kicks, 7 clangers
Judd is a pretty good kick too but I don't think he is in the same class as Pavlich.

A lot of people believe Cousins has poor skills by foot but going by clangers, it would appear he rarely wastes the ball. He doesnt have a long kick but he is pretty accurate. Wirrpunda and Judd though are even better. Ive watched Judd play every game and Im still yet to see him miss a target.
Pavlich cant use his left very well. All of the other 3 can. I think this sets them apart.
