Milburn

If I end up with the choice of taking a zero or trading out Cornes, is it worth looking at Milburn? His price has dropped right down, so I'd free up $100,000 yet he's still averaging just below 100 (around the 95.5 mark).

Thoughts?

I've had Milburn from the start.

In the past he has always been consistent.

However I think he has had to be more accountable this year with Egan out and thats affecting his scores.

For the price I guess you can't go wrong.

I reckon even with Cornes missing another game or two he will score more points before the end of the year than Milburn.

No way am I getting rid of the chad, he's a sc scoring superstar when on song.

He is warming the pine for me while taylor and womeamerri have been doing a wonderful job filling in.

I had both on the field last week and scored a 94 and 150 from them both.

Can't ask for anymore than that from your rookie defenders. They are even showing up some of my other players like bloody mattner and j.brown!

Milburn, Gilbee and Goddard have all bottomed and could be a good pickup although I doubt either will be able to score as highly as in previous years.
If you can spend around the $500K mark there are a few better pickups like Stiffy, Kennelly and MacDonald

I'd probably reccomend taking the zero and keeping Chad, do you not have any playing subs?

Chose poorely at the beginning of the year... Spangher and S Thompson were my two benchwarmers. I'm just considering what my options are if Thompson is dropped again... not an unreasonable fear, I think, with Laidley making the calls.

Milburn
Gilbee
Goddard
Fisher? (Cant remember if he has bottomed out or not)


I reckon milburn is probably the pick of the bunch followed by gilbee. Both have the runs on the board and could be ready to get big scores in the next few weeks.

Going on past form from 2005-2007 their averages have been

Gilbee 109
Milburn 108.6
Goddard 89.4
Fisher 87.3

So from a statistical viewpoint I'd be going either Milburn or Gilbee.
Gilbee only has one score over 100 but also only one score below 84 so is fairly consistent.

Also P Burgoyne who is averaging 92.29 compared to his 2007 average of 109.7 could also potentially find some form and with a lowest score of 72 is going to be fairly consistent even if he is going to frustrate you by only getting 122 points off 40 possessions.

Alternatively you could go for someone that is on the way up as opposed to living by former glories.

Joel MacDonald is averaging 32.63 better than he did last year, Johncock 19.1 and Jake King 20.4.

The smokey is Rick Ladson, only one score under 89 which came last week.

Mail is that Jake King has a fractured wrist. Wallace said he would be find after the weeks rest but could be an ongoing issue.

If I didn't have dasher already I would be seriously considering picking him up in the next week or two. With a BE of 100 he is surely close to bottoming out.

I would have also been happy to cop a zero this week for Chad if I could afford it, but with NLM, Proud & Edwards all out also I need to do something. (Plus Kennelly always is in doubt)

More thank likely still keep Chad on bench .... Edwards a sideways trade to Myers (not ideal but Edwards looks no chance of getting a game) and NLM to either Gilbee, Fisher or Milburn.

Would leave me with a full squad and if Cornes does return next week I will still have Myers as a playing emergency (something I have not had in backline all year)
