Greg Miller on SEN this morning with KB.
Didn't give a whole lot away to be honest ..

-Confirmed that their had been interest in Krakouer
-Confirmed that their had been interest in Schulz, though he is a contracted player still developing his football.
-Confirmed that we are interested in McMahon
-Confirmed that we are interested in Blake, though don't desperately need a ruckman. Also said that St Kilda are in the front seat for Blake.

Said one interesting thing when talking about our ruckman. With all the doubts about Simmonds returning, he simply said "yeah and we'll have Simmonds back." If his injury was going to limit him next year, you think he would have said something.

Can't remember what else, probably missed a fair bit.

Knew I would have missed something ..

-Not interested in Travis Johnstone, 27 or 28 is too old to trade for
-Didn't give anything away about drafting Cale Morton or Trent Cotchin
-Confirmed we were a fair way down the track regarding talks for Mitch Morton

He's not going to come out and say we're desperate for a ruck, it weakens our trade position.

Wouldn't expect him to say we're desperate for a ruckman, probably worded that wrong.
He could have come out and said "Well with Simmonds having a limited pre-season due to injury, we're in the market for a ruckman." Instead just a simple, we'll have Simmonds back.
Am I reading too much into it?

Also confirmed that we were after sheeds to join the marketing group at tigerland.
He also mentioned that he would be speaking with Schultz today to see where he stood....whether he wanted to stay at tigerland or leave.

Don't think it was that simple. Said that Schulz knows he needs to take another step up, whether he is prepared to work for it at Tigerland or elsewhere

So when is Miller going to say we are chasing Troy Selwood?

Or are we not interested in getting decent players to Richmond? :thumbsd:

doesn't sound like it if we are going after mcmahon and mitch morton.
no wonder we are a joke.
if mitch morton was any good he would be playing in the eagles side this year.
sounds like we are very ken on this cale morton instead of cotchin.might cause a few arguments on here:)

Miller on SEN today after 10

if any one heard or if anyone does hear this - can they post the results here?

miller was talking about the draft and trade period , i start work straight on 10 so i can't hear it - so if anything of interest can be posted here, would be awesome

apparently the talk of us drafting both mortons and passing on Cotchin are becoming more and more vocal - i hope to god that this isn't true - if we get cale morton over cotching (CALE is exactly the same height as JON - i strongly doubt hr will develop into KP defender material ) i will be embarrassed to support richmond any longer

i stayed loyal in 2000 when we took Aaron Fiora @ 3 over Pavlich, Corey & mcPharlin

in 2001 i accepted we took Pettifer @ 8 over S.Burgoyne & Daniel Kerr

in 2002 - i accepted we traded our 1st rounder (pick17) - which was James Kelly, matt mcguire, steve johnson or Seaby - along with Daffy for Greg Stafford

in 2003 - i cringed but held tight as we traded pick 2 (Wells ) & torney for Kane Johnson and pick 12( schulz) over schammer & jarred Rivers

in 2004 - i was satisfied when we traden pick 4 and ben holland for nathan brown - which ended up beign farren Ray - but regret we took Alex Gilmore over Jed Adcock

in 2005 - i think we all now have nightmares of tambling over franklin, and meyer over Bate, Monfries, or Wood

in 2006 - i was literally speechless as we took Jarrad Oakley Nicholls over Mitch Clarke (inparticular), shaun Higgins, Marcus Drum, Nathan Jones 7 Shannon Hurn - that one completely baffled me to be honest - and to this day i struggle with any understanding of why they would do such a thing

in 2007 - i have no arguements with trading pick 8 for Polak & Reiwoldt - so no whinge there

but if in 2008 - we trade cale morton over trent Cotchin - mark my words - we are the masters of our own misery

DO NOT DO IT:mad:

mitch woudl be useful ( as long as it means we don't have to take his bro over cotchin ) - but i agree with Jordon - he had one good season - which was 2006 - and everywhere around that he has been like aaron fiora -jittery, panicky and terrible under pressure - would hope we aren't successful in getting him

seems like we aren't after anything interesting this season after all the talk.

i would think we do need a ruckman though - that is just laughable.

Re: Miller on SEN today after 10

the difference with cale is that he can actually play football, can do all of those things that JON can't like run, kick, mark ect

you already have an abundance of small/half forwards in Lids/bling/Brown, Morton would be better for your team long term, especially if you get steak knives (Mitch Morton) thrown in who also plays as that forward midfield role.

Whatever anyone is offering Krakouer we should take. Hopefully we could snag a 4th round for him to pick up Neville or another Burgers player

no

trent cotchin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> morton and his 2 brothers put together.

You can have Cale at 3 - i'm sure he will be a quality player - but im positive Trent will be a much better one. if cotchin can play in the middle, then deledio can become our own brad johnson type forward - and then our need for a mitch morton is pretty much expelled anyway.

a forward line of richo , hughes, reiwoldt with deledio, brown and pettifer - is a good mix of quality tallks with quality marking, smalls - mitch wouldnt get a game over any oif those in our forward line

Assume no mention of Cam Wood?
He must really rate Shane Tuck as a ruckman, if he doesnt think we have a problem in this ares.
If Patto or Simmonds gets injured who is going to Ruck?

i have heard it may be the weagles who have shown interest.

i would offer krak and our 3rd rounder for mitch morton

or

even krak in a straight swap for Sampi - apparently Sampi has family living in melbourne - he has expressed a genuine desire to restart his career - moving to a city eithout an aboriginal culture could benefit him from his personal issues - and if we do lure sheeds - and with good character aboriginals at our club like tambling, peterson & JON - i would back our club to be able to keep him on the right tracks - and extract the definite wuality footballer that lays within him - a gamble for sure - but a gamble with a player i was happy to delist anyway - i would take.

If Patto or Simmonds gets injured who is going to Ruck?

A poster earlier summed it up well. Greg Miller isn't going to state that we really need another ruckmen (even though thats the truth) as clubs offering ruckman may see us as desperate and will be able to squeeze more out of us

angus Graham is also going to be promoted from what i have heard - so he is also on the list - but i completely agree - another senior ruckman is among the first things on my "want" list.

poor patto would be a write off if simmo goes down and he has to do it all on his own again in 08 - his body will go on him early IMO

Re: Miller on SEN today after 10

Cale is 192cm JON is 189cm

Difference is Cale can bloody kick a ball.....Cale is a Utility and is a very good footballer so i wouldn't be upset if they did chose him at #2, but in saying that Cotchin is my preferd choice. the kid has superstar written all over him.

Weren't you using Polak as a backup ruck?. Go for Cam Woods. He has talent and attitude. Blake is a dud. Leave him to the Saints. With Patto and Woods, you'd have a decent devloping ruck combo, and it frees up Simmonds to go forward. :)

Re: Miller on SEN today after 10

JON may not be proficient at certain aspects but one he is adept at is marking and a very good one at that.

i would just prefer we take someone who is already the height needed to be a Key position backman than recruiting one that we HOPE will grow into one - its too much of a gamble - and we have gambled way to much in the past with our first round picks.
safest option is Cotchin at 2 - and we should gobble it up - if we don't i will seriously question how much longer i can enjoy barracking for this side, as their stupidity just frustrates me to hell

Finally some sense on BigFooty... it seems most posters on this site believe that if we don't get Wood theres no point getting Blake - meaning we have an underdone Simmo and if breaks down just Patto who may end up like Fraser being burnt out by 25.

On your point about Graham - I don't personally see the point in promoting him when he can be retained on the rookie list, esspecially as he will probably play at least the first half of the year at Coburg. At this stage we will already elevate King and perhapes Howatt.

Why do you care?

Simmonds is better then all your rucks and I would take Patto over Cloke and Hackland any day.
