Nope he drops hints and with good reason too. If 3 people get knocked out in quick fashion then they are only going for say 10 000 people will lose interest and change channels. He has to make the people early on get questions correct, keep the money around 100k-1mill so people will stay tuned for the whole half hour

Also has to make sure the whole 20 seconds is used otherwise the show may finish a little early

I remember when Millionaire and Survivor burst on the scene in 1999/2000, seemed so fresh and new millenium... they're now both so old hat...where have 10 years gone?

Watching those two shows back in the day was fantastic. Still like both shows, albeit I much prefer old Millionaire. The new one is like one day cricket compared to test cricket, the tension in the vintage form cannot be beaten.

Anyone watch yesterday, the guy went all the way to the million dollar question only to bomb out.... and it was a piss easy question too... "which actor was born with the surname Horowitz"... a clearly jewish sounding name... Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts or Winona Ryder. A tricky question maybe... for about $2000. Anyway, the guy picked Matt damon and left with a only a grand... OUCH!

But I dont like this concept, he goes all the way to a million dollar question and leaves with 1000....

I totally had that question, through the process of elimination.

I know Matt Damon has a brother called Kyle Damon.

I know Julia Roberts has a sister called Lisa Roberts and a brother called Eric Roberts.

I know Johnny Depp hasn’t changed his name.

Still prefer the old version myself. It sucks how a contestant can get a heap of questions right, bomb out and the next person can answer 1 question and take the lot.

Also I think they should be another safe point, though I'm not sure how they would implement that in the current format. Getting the $ million question and leaving with a grand isn't very nice

I loved the tension of classic Millionaire, the last few questions for any contestant were epically produced.

But I am definitely happy for them to keep the time element if they fix the flaws in the format mentioned above.

Very unfortunate he got bombarded with so many celebrity questions, was a very intellectual man.

It might take a freakish run of questions or a schizo to win the million though based on the current batch of questions and no real lifelines!

Well who saw that? Big drama on the hot seat.

The last question and the clock was ticking down and Eddie starts telling someone in the audience to quit making hand gestures, really serious about it. He said to stop signaling his friend elsewhere in the audience, said "you might know the question but.... <something something>" The camera threw to the man in the audience, a guy up at the back row.

The clock had timed out but they restarted it on account of the distraction.

The contestant got the question wrong, Esso had the slogan "put a tiger in your tank", not too hard.

Then at the very end after the credits roll Eddie is standing there and explains that there was no inference of cheating on the contestants part.

Could have cut it out I'm sure but they knew the audience would like a bit of drama.

Seems Eddie McGuire's contract with 9 is up, probably this month and I cannot see any rumours or discussions that have happened between 9 and McGuire media to re sign the man who once THE face of the 9 network. In many ways that roll has been taken over by Karl of Sydney.
