I have this on xbox 360, but it's very limited and the updates are taking months to be released, so thinking about getting it on PC too, just wondering, when you buy it on PC, are the skins, texture packs etc free? and can you play the modes like survival mode, creation mode and survival games? or do you need to download add-ons that will cost more money?

Don't have to purchase anything extra. The only thing that costs is online, as you have to buy servers, there's no default server or P2P set up. But BigFooty has the server so it shouldn't matter.:)

So BF has it's own server? how much does it cost for online? is it a monthly payment thing?

Servers can range from about $15-$40 a month depending on various amounts of factors (server location, players per server, etc.). Chief has had the Minecraft server up and running for about 10 months now and there's a thriving world that has been built.

Check out how to access it here (I think you will have to PM Chief to be whitelisted, which is just a means to be allowed on the server so we don't have griefing - people have structures and things in this that griefing can undo a lot of hard work): http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/server-information-addresses-etc.883859/

In terms of mods, add-ons, etc. I am fairly behind the loop on all that stuff now (it moves very fast and every update you have to re-download and install mods otherwise they won't work with the myriad of changes). But personally, these are the two that you NEED to have.

Sphax PureBDCraft Texture Pack (Official Site: http://bdcraft.net/ Forum Site: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...-256x-512x10-to-130-sphax-purebdcraft-200512/) - Takes the game from a pixelated mess of a look to a clean, sharp, but still in tune with the Minecraft experience look. Some really smart implementation of textures to help everything stand out and be instantly noticeable at a glance. Also just has a really nice art style throughout.

You will also want to get this:
MCPatcher (http://www.minecraftdl.com/mcpatcher-hd-fix/) - What this basically does it up-res everything and allow for HD textures. It turns the in-game font from a blocky pixelated look into a smoother, much easier to read font. There's also some other touches if you choose to want them, but basically this is what allows for the higher res texture packs to look as good as possible. You will need to install this every single time the game is updated.

Those are the two absolute must haves. Depending on how you play the game, you might also want to have the Zombe Mod Installer (http://www.xboxmb.com/forum/100-min...raft-flying-mod-installer-update-1-2-5-a.html), which allows you to fly (although flying is disabled on the BF Server and will kick you - so best to use it offline).

Being that you're coming from Day Z, basically this game is in a very similar vein. The more you read up and look at everything about Minecraft, the more everything makes sense and becomes clearer. It's really tough to get into it and start up as there's a billion and one things to do, things that you can do and things to find and learn about. But you just have to take the advice of whoever is willing to give it to you tbh and take your time with everything. Join up to the BF Server and Mobbenfuhrer will likely show you the ropes as he's on the server more than anyone and has easily done the most work. At least you've got off to a start with the 360 version, but there's still a shitload more in the PC version than 360.

We don't, but Eth and Mister Carlton were lobbying for one a little while back. Don't think Chief responded about it though.
 
Hope this is allowed Chief... but i'd like to plug the MC server i'm setting up and invite BigFooty people to come play. It's a different type of server from the BF one so not direct competition or anything....

It's all current, 1.5.2 stuff.

IF between now and the end of the week it looks like 1.6 is going to be released, I may delay server launch until all the plugins are confirmed updated/compatible with 1.6 and launch as a 1.6 horsey server :P
