Looks like Caramut might clearly be the second best team in the league looking at the results? Anyone agree with this. They must of had a bad game against Tatyoon cause they beat them by 20 odd goals? Any big improves in the league that will get better?

Lets face fact Tatyoon is not going to get touched by any teams within 20goals! lets stop talking about this shit league that has gone that far down hill who cares who wins the flag! it is a disgrace and it is sad to see that some duds are playing senior footyball when this league has produced some fantastic footballers! Give Taty the cup!!!

I suggest that if you don't want to talk about the Mininera & DFL, you choose one of the thousands of other threads in Bigfooty to post on, instead.

Tatyoon will win it easily. The fact is the league has gone severly downhill and they've managed to retain players. You could quite easily buy a flag in this league. It wouldn't surprise for Bolac to finish bottom two this year then win it next year...

The league is that bad at the moment to say you are a Senior footballer in the mininera means stuff all!

If Glenn Wilson is still getting a game it certainly means stuff all. He's well past his prime! When has he ever gotten a hard ball???

Well on the basis of "quality", I am lucky (or unlucky) enough to have to patrol Bigfooty sub-forums on al the Regional Leagues, and noted that in the Lexton Plains forum, people believe that Ararat (is it Eagles or United, I can't remember anymore!) would prefer to play MDFL than LPFL, because the quality of footy is better in the MDFL? Note that this is hearsay from various LPFL people, not Ararat folks themselves who are saying this.

It was a passing subject, but it made me wonder, if the MDFL is so bad, why do the LPFL think higher of it?

On another note, IF the MDFL IS struggling, can it be reassessed and fixed? Its one thing to can the league, but how about some suggestions to get it moving? The clubs are pretty widespread, do you think that needs revisiting?

lismore derri arnt going to well ey? but have some positives to take with them at the moment. The younger players such as white and bryant are getting good time on the ground and bryant done the job against richardson on the weekend, held him pretty well.
Who are the young players coming through

why do you think it is that the standard of football has dropped? Do you think it may be that the price of petrol has made it hard, for one people cant afford to drive out to the more remote towns/clubs (ie for training and game day). or two, that with the fuel and interest rates rising, fundraising is not as good as it has been in other years, and clubs cant afford to get players back out to play with them.

Lets face it, its a dying breed, the loyal player, that returns for financial loss most of the time, just truns up to play with mates or family, or just to repay a community that has stuck by them.

I think all reginal leagues/clubs are struggling, but I think that maybe the VCFL must step it, or Country Football itself will be a THING OF THE PAST.

The Ararat Eagles would prefer to play in the MDFL only because Ararat people are more interested in it.. No one in Ararat gives a stuff about the LPFL.. Its got nothing to do with the quality of the opposition, its well known the LPFL is a better standard of footy than the MDFL..

Ahh ok I had that wrong then, just more connections with MDFL towns I guess?

Why not put your name on your post so we can see how your record stands up next to Glen Wilson's.

Why is it well known that the LPFL is better than the MDFL? It might of dropped of a bit this year but last year the top 5 teams were all good teams? I have watched both leagues and had discussions with people and the mininera league last year was of equal standard if not higher. The only people that say it is lower is people in the LPFL. I wish people would stop bagging the MDFL.

think youve got the quality of the two leagues round the wrong way and by a fair bit havent seen anything on the lpfl thread saying that

i know the kid and i would be quite happy to say that he isnt chasing money, there are a lot of other reasons for this, and i doubt that they would offer a17 year old kid money when they know nothing about him....

Back in 2005 the top 5 in the leauge was a little even, last year it was a 2 team race and this year it is just tatyoon! The league is stuffed and it shows by the scores and the standard! have been to watch a couple of games this year and it is has dropped a great deal!

Razzamatazz you would have to agree with me when i say back in 05 the mininera league was of pretty high standard for a lower league! You couldnt say that in 05 the LPFL was better than the MDFL. I know the mininera league is struggling this year but it still fill 10 teams and you dont see many lower leagues doing that. LPFL has dropped off abit too.

If the league was so strong then why has moyston been able to go from not winning games to being up the top half of the ladder, i think it is because the league has lost majority of its class players. Yeah it has 10 teams but how many of them are any good? 1-Tatyoon as for the rest they are just wasting there time

Well said Razza..And its not like moyston have picked up 10 gun players this year, they've picked up 2-3 handy players.. Tatyoons basically got the same list as last year too, lost a few, picked up a few, and Caramut are the so called 'second best team, Taty beat them by 15 goals.. Its pretty clear to see that the leagues dropped considerably...

You blokes talk about people not being loyal and chasing some coin and what not, but there is many blokes out there still willing to do the right thing by their club and home town. Prime example would be young Tim Cleeland from SMW rovers. Great young footballer, clould quite easily be on the big bucks in any other league. Once he recovered from his injuries he was back home pulling on the rovers jumper. And im willing to put money on it that most of his pay goes strait back behind the bar!!! Its blokes like this that lift the standard of the MDFL and make it a competitive league. Peelers...

i said that the league had dropped off this year. i was referring to 05 and before. Moyston are 7th on the ladder i wouoldnt call that top half.

Its been going downhill for at least the last 4-5 years. Possibly before it was the same standard as the LPFL. But not these days. Look at some of the players in LPFL. No one in the MDFL could keep with them. Each year the teams seem to be losing some of their better players and just not able to recruit that quality back in. The older blokes who have been around for years are getting on a bit and just not the players they were with no youngsters to come up. Sad that is looks like Robertson is leaving Rovers as he was a good local player.
