I'm getting a bit sick of people calling Will scum as well. He does a lot of good. He's a co-founder of the Red Dust program, which is to do with working with Indigenous people who have had their lives impacted negatively, he's gone to India and worked with children over there as well.

Does a lot more than most AFL players.

He made a couple of stupid decisions in the heat of games, and they were definitely stupid things to say, but calling him scum is wrong.

Just had a squizz on her Facebook and twitter. Geez. The kid will be heartbroken when he realises just how ****** his family is. Losers.

Let's leave the poor little fella out of it, he's defenceless. But yes I agree with the other part. Lucy has turned this around and made this about her - which is exactly what she was condemning about fellow WAG's in years gone by. Guess the thrill of the attention was just too much.

Her husband and his brother are two celebrated AFL players, both who have excelled in their positions. Her Father in Law, despite whatever your personal feelings are toward him is part of the AFL Hall of Fame. For you to refer to the Cornes family as losers, your family must be something pretty special.

Not excusing Minson if he overstepped the mark. However I don't recall the charming Lucy taking Brett Montgomery ( then playing for Port ) to task when he directed some tasteless remarks about cancer to Adam Ramanaskaus. Adam, who is a very decent individual was at that stage still recovering from cancer.

Who knows what he said but everyone knows he's a bit of a dope.
Hope the Bulldogs leadership group doesn't sack him for saying stupid crap like Aker though:oops:

Did tweeting or facebook even exist then? No-one supported what Monty said anyway!!

Don't need twitter or facebook to make a public stand if you feel strongly enough about something. As I said if Minson overstepped the mark he deserves to be lambasted. Just need a bit of consistency.

Maybe you tweet her about her stance on what Monty said!

Lol at Pearce. what a sook. If a bulldog player complained about something like that i'd be pretty dissappointed in them. Obviously it doesn't bother Lucy now that she is bringing up that past.

Chornes and Graham weighing in on facebook.

Since when were ANY of the Cornes' involved here?

Are you saying that anonymous people can say whatever they want about it on BigFooty but you can't say what you want without a shroud of secrecy and inside knowledge on facebook?

It's hard to know what exactly has been said, so hard to draw any conclusions.
But, he would have had to have said something pretty serious for it to actually warrant the attention it is getting.

To put the Cornes incident in perspective people should probably read this article from 2008. Cornes isn't actually a saint after making comments about Minson's deceased father either. It seems as though Will was trying to sledge in this incidence but wasn't fully aware of the situation.

WILL Minson has apologised for the distasteful personal remark he made about Kane Cornes' sick son during last Saturday night's Western Bulldogs-Port Adelaide match in Darwin.

Anxious about a hurtful on-field exchange as soon as he left the field, Minson informed the Bulldogs' football manager about his comment, left an apologetic message for Cornes later that night and asked him to phone back if he wanted to discuss the matter further.

While The Age believes they have still not spoken directly, Cornes did discuss the matter with the Bulldogs' football operations manager James Fantasia yesterday and has since informed Port Adelaide that he does not wish to make a formal complaint through the AFL.

While there were conflicting reports yesterday of what was said — and neither club would detail their versions publicly — sources said Minson made reference to Cornes being selfish for playing and that he should have been at home with his sick son, and that Cornes retaliated with a comment about Minson's deceased father.

Unbeknown to Minson, Cornes had made a late trip to Darwin — he arrived on match day — because his wife Lucy had delivered the couple's second son on Friday.

Cornes' son Eddy Jack, who turns two in September, was born with rare heart problems. Before his first birthday, he had two operations and he is due to have open-heart surgery in the next few years. In the lead-up to Port Adelaide's qualifying final last year, Cornes told The Age about the trauma and stress Eddy Jack's condition had caused him and wife.

"Sleeping on a hospital floor two nights before a game and then still being able to play well has sort of changed my attitude a little bit," Cornes said last September, referring to his altered perspective on football.

Fantasia last night confirmed Minson's part in the exchange and that he had spoken with Cornes yesterday. "We've spoken to Will and he was remorseful about saying anything and has tried to make contact with Kane. Subsequently, I have spoken to Kane as well, and the Port Adelaide Football Club and they were accepting of his apology and we're keen just to get on with it."

Port Adelaide's football manager Peter Rohde refused to identify Cornes, but said the player had indicated he did not want to pursue the matter further. "Whilst one of our players was certainly disappointed at the time, he's now happy to accept that the person is remorseful for what he said and he wants to move on," Rhode said.

Port Adelaide later released a statement identifying both players.

Cornes' father Graham yesterday identified Kane as the aggrieved player on his 5AA radio program, but suggested his son was disinclined to make a formal complaint.

Cornes' co-host, Ken Cunningham, said that, in his opinion, what had been said by the Western Bulldog player was worse than racial vilification.

"The clubs have to do something about this. This young man cannot walk away from this scot-free. This Western Bulldogs player, he has to be penalised because what he did was an absolute disgrace," Cunningham said.

The AFL does not act on sledging unless a player makes a complaint.

For those saying Minson is a dog of a bloke etc. They should probably look into his community work, which few people would match.

i remember Glenn McGrath exposed himself as a weak bully 10+ years ago
Was it Ramprakash (sp?) the West Indian?
McGrath came down the wicket and said something unsavory about possible sex practices he preferred, and Ramprakash immediately responded with "well your wife didn't mind it last night", which, all of you reading are saying to yourself something like well yeah thats just the typical response one would give and one would expect to receive if they made that statement, and you all just chuckle and move on

But no, not Glenn McGrath. You see his now immortalised in Pink wife (rest her soul) was ill at the time , and he went ballistic. "you keep my wife out of this " an don and on he went

The point was, if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen

Lucy, they are big boys, and that guy is a known idiot

Let the men take care of it themselves.

The less oxygen these idiots are given, the easier it is for people who do say something they regret- to come up after and apologise. chances are they feel dirty on themselves once the adrenalin and testosterone cools down

if they don't, then they are idiots and everyone in the AFL community learns about it sooner or later

If it is given oxygen, the afl gets involved and people with jobs reliant on there being incidences (cough Mifsud) get involved and its gets all out of hand and no one wins

personally, i prefer not to know, even though i am curious what he said. but its not my business, and so i shouldnt know, and it should be left amongst the players, even if they feel they need to afl to counsel him or get involved

final note: there are always 3 sides to a story, your side my side & the truth. that and glenn mcgrath will forever be consigned to being a tool for his reaction0 which was very typical of the Australian cricketers attitude through those successful years

Well said.

McGrath was a douche. Deserved that serve from the West Indies player. If you are going to trash talk about homosexuality, then all bets are off. The fact the West Indies player knew nothing of his wife's condition makes it completely fair. You can't instigate, then sook. But McGrath was famous for that, especially when batsmen were getting the better of him.

What a shock to see you sledging McGrath.

He lost his cool due to his wife having cancer - he apologized to Ramesh and had consistently stated he was ashamed and embarrassed by the way he reacted.

He rarely ever sooked - almost all of his anger was directed at himself.

McGrath was the king of sledging & I've heard he's an ordinary bloke as well. He gave it out more than anyone, so he had to expect to cop some mud that stuck.

He is scum, I have seen it first hand.

Alright mate, think what you want, from one supposed incident in a bar
Just ignore the facts of all the good he does.
