Mitch Clark is a tough, durable and mobile 200cm Ruckmen/Utility. He had a good season at CHB before a breakout season as a ruckmen. He has also spent time as a key forward with success as well.

He would be extremely useful. He could play as 1st ruck, he could replace Lonergan in the backline, he could replace Hawkins as ruck/forward or play as a permanent forward ahead of Mooney/Pods/Hawkins.

We got Ottens for pick 12 & 14 and I think Clark is a little bit better. IMO a dream would be:

Mackie to Gold Coast for pick #15

Pick #15 + 1 x compo pick to Brisbane for Mitch Clark.

12 & 16 actually it was. I wouldn't say Clark is better (although he may well become so), I reckon he's the equal of what Otto was when we got him, but he's 3 years younger than Otto was, and less injury prone, which makes a difference, particularly the age factor. I've said I don't want us using our compo picks to top up with old blokes, but if we get someone who's so young he'll be here for all of our next premiership window (call it a reverse Mumford) then why not! He's also equally as capable as a forward (go watch the game near the end of the year against Adelaide where he played permanent CHF and killed it) which will become VERY useful once the interchange cap comes in. Hence, in this diluted draft, I'd happily offer 2 first rounders or the equivalent thereof, whether we do that by one of the compo picks + our normal 1st round, or keep the compo but trade someone to get another first round (I'd prefer the former but either is good) I would be happy to do it, given our list need, and given that with the new teams likely to prioritise KP's and rucks, this is the time there's better value in trading for a big man than trying to draft one.

Fair call. More valuable rather than better than Ottens is probably more accurate. Otto had already had a knee reco. Was going off top of my head for the draft picks.

I always thought we should have a crack at getting Petree from North but Clarke is a better younger version I reckon.

Not sure about!

2006 - His debut season was hampered by osteitis pubis. Only played 6 games
2007 - Missed most of the 2007 pre-season with a troublesome knee injury. Played his first game in round nine but only lasted three weeks before he was hit by injury again. - 4 games
2008 - Injured his quad during pre-season training. Played his first game for in round seven but was again sidelined for the remainder after round 18 with a Quad Injury - 12 Games

Past two years have been pretty injury free though, so that is a positive. Will be hard to convince to come to Geelong considering he wants to go home. (to Perth)

Don't worry about draft picks for clark.
Use cash. Give them Blake and Gamble and pay both salaries for 2 years.

Brissie are up shit creek with the cap. Manipulate them.

My mistake. I was thinking of his recent injury history, which has been pretty good.

Certainly worth enquiring about...quality big men don't grow on trees.

Brisbane can't possibly still be in salary cap trouble with the players they've lost. He would be a perfect selection but Geelong to Perth is a long way.

Dont want to lose any of our Gazza picks for him, Wells built a great team without using a pick below 7 lets use a couple of higher ones as well this time. I think unless they're happy for a 2 for 1 deal with Blake/Djerkurra/Gamble/Lonergan/2nd round draft pick it wont happen. If we're desperate for him may see Byrnes, Hawkins or Stokes thrown into the mix as well.

Firstly, not even all of these guys/draft picks as a package would get this deal done. Clark is an animal and, as others have noted above, would be worth every bit as much as Otto was. Lets be realistic here.

Secondly, Hawkins will not be traded. He is crucial to our rebuild.
