Rumour has it that he wants out of Brisbane and even though he is probably likely to go to GWS, we should be chasing him with all we have...

Is exactly what we need in can play key forward and be the second ruck and is going to be a star... would be a major positive for us to jag someone like this, throw the kitchen sink at him Dees and be bold...

If he could play every week like he did against a few weeks ago than I say yes. Not sure we should offer too much though (as in the kitchen sink) but a solid offer or high pick.

I was super keen on Clark a year or two ago, have cooled off a little but I'm sure his indifferent form would be fixed with a change of scenery and a little more experience.

Isn't he from WA? Or somewhere that's not Victoria...

yeah hes a wa lad, so were probably in with a small chance, but i would definently offer morton and a 2nd round draft pick to start with then negotiate from there

I think we could do a good deal to get him but it really depends on where Clark nominates.. I'm assuming the rumour is right he'll go for the money $$ at GWS..

I'm in two minds, similar to D86. I think if he wanted to come to Melbourne I'd be happy for the club to go hard for him just because he does fill two big holes for us, and has a lot of talent no doubt.

Would not want to lose any core players though. Some combination of:

-Bate
-Newton
-Warnock
-Wonna
-JB

and a 1st or 2nd rounder would be okay imo. CBF actually thinking about what Brisbane might need, but then again, craaaaazy Vossy wouldn't either!

Would cost our first rounder plus Morton as a minimum I'd say. Possibly even a pick exchange (i.e. our third rounder for their fourth rounder).

In all honesty, as much as he'd be good for us, its not going to happen.

You're not going to be taken seriously without including a 1st round pick. Ability, youth, demand. And we are silly if we get rid of Bennell, will flourish under a different regime.

I dont know how much i would want to pay for this guy... His break out year was when he was Brisbanes sole ruckman when Leunberger was injured along with Charman...09?

Since then he has played the forward ruck role to a lesser affect with the odd great game, lacks the consistency atm

What would i give for him? he is worth a first rounder for sure but not with a Morton type thrown in.... maybe with a second rounder? or a Bennel, Bate, Dunn, Blease or Strauss...??? dunnno how good the last two are at this stage either... both have talent but wont both fit in our best 22 in future most likely either

His price will be inflated from when he was worth HEAPS.... but i dont think unless he find something he is honestly still worth that

And he will want a fair bit of Dow... which he may also not deserve at this point in time

Pettard and a 2nd round pick (or compo if you get one) and i would be happy.

Also clark is no forward...think of him best used as a defensive ruckman. He is great playing behind the ball.

It would be smart of you guys to target a ruckman this year, as Jamar will be up for grabs as a free agent after next season, and he is already getting attention in his home state of sa, with ricciuto calling for port to offer him 800k-1mill...no way the demons could match that considering all the talent you guys need to secure...especially if scully stays

I can assure you good sir, that Jamar and his Melbourne born and bred GF will never, ever move back to SA. I will cancel my bigfooty account if I am wrong- bookmark it :thumbsu:

Also I would imagine the prospect of playing for Port would certainly not be at all appealing for any player at all!!!

I too would almost bank that jamar would stay...but with 800k+ on offer when the demons would be paying 500k at best, well that could change things... one thing for certain is that clubs will come chasing Jamar as a free agent and you guys will have to reward him with near matched offers...now, paying Jamar 800k or so will seriously affect the chances of retaining all your impressive young talent...im not saying you wont keep the young talent, but certaining mitch clark will not be a option should the demons want to retain talent

Also...a bigfooty has no currency in wagers..:)

I'm 100% confident that due to Melbourne front-ending expensive long term contracts over the last year or two (Frawley, Davey Watts etc), we will encounter very little salary cap pressure (barring unforeseen circumstances like a premiership :p) over the next 5 years.

Beyond that is anyones guess, but our list managers appear to have done an excellent job of ensuring the long term stabilty of our list through shrewd contract negotiations. Melbourne always planned on having a lot of spare cash to throw at someone come free agency (dont have links but there's multiple mentions), and I'm confident that they will do so at some point, whilst retaining all the talent we see fit to retain.

I'm not having a dig at all- but what our admin have done over the last couple of years in terms of contracts has been basically the exact opposite of what the Lions did with Fev and co. We will (luckily) not have to face situations like the Lions did last year.

And yeah my bigfooty account is certainly worth nothing in wagers- but I've never made that pledge before! :thumbsu:

If the demons do have alot of cash come free agency then expect most of that being used to retain jamar.

Your team might have managed to have cash freed up...but remember most your stars are extremely young and you will always be up against matching offers from other teams.

Just to keep scully you need to be competive against gws...if he stays, then i doubt there would be room to go chasing other teams young talent like clark...because you boys will have to offer a max salary.

Also, im pretty sure grimes, trengrove,, gysberts, watts, jarrah, and co arent on long term contracts...they will demand high contracts in the coming years

Over all, you guys will have to give up talent to trade for talent...players like bate would cut it

Pettard and a 2nd round!

But if you bank on keeping jamar then forget...clark has this idea that he deserves a #1 role, and i dont see the demons satisfying his ambition
