Well come trade week one thing seems certain in that Mitch Clark will request a trade if he hasnt taken the cash and run to GWS. Mitch actually put his hand up for a freo trade back when Vossy worked over time to get a Fev trade sorted out but for whatever reason that fell through, but the strong word seems to be that Clark really wants to get to freo. Of the Vic clubs it seems the Saints and tigers are working hard to get him on board.

So What is Clarks trade value for these clubs and/or other clubs????

My Thoughts:

Freo
Clark seems set on playing for them, but of any club in the AFL let alone the handful of clubs mentioned in Clark trade talks they seem to be one of the most unlikely to get a good trade on the table. But here is a few options:
1) 3 Way trade involing a Vic club... I still have trouble working out a deal that would get it done??
2) Freo have a rough draw to finsih the season, and might actually finish outside the top 8 and thus get a decent 1st round pick...that might get the deal done.
3) Freo do have some good defenders that may tempt the Lions...Silvagni or Johnson plus a 2nd round pick may tempt the lions

Tigers
I can see the tigers putting their first round pick on the table to get the deal done from the lions end. All they need to do is convince Clark. But it does have a Troy Simmons feel to it

Saints
It trade power saints probably have the best options with QLDers Armitage and Gilbert.
1) Gilbert + 1st round pick for Clark + Lions 2011 Combo activated pick

Thoughts including other teams?

Freo - 1st rounder + Palmer compo pick.
Richmond - 1st rounder.
Saints - Hard to get a fair deal with them right now. There is no way i'd do the one you listed, we'd get ripped off badly and i highly doubt we'll trade any picks.

freo is the last club who need him. unless he does a tarrant like move and ends up coming to us for a nothing pick, i don't see us making any move for him.

Clark goes to GWS and I think he'd get similar money and compensation as Palmer. It is laughable to think we'd throw in another top 20 pick on top of the compo pick for someone about as useful to us as Kepler Bradley.

Oh please please please let that happen..it only cost us a dud to get Simmonds. Thanks St Kilda.

He would be a great fit for Richmond I reckon. Mitch Clark plays his best when he can play in the ruck most of the time (say 70-80%) of the game, and Richmond have Vickery that can play forward and then help out in the ruck. Would be a good duo.

I can't see either of the WC clubs having too much interest. Both Freo and WC are stocked for rucks. Maybe Freo as a KP but I'm not sure you would be getting full value from Mitch as a KPF.

Fremantle would absolutely jump at Johnson and a 2nd rounder for Clark but it won't happen.

I was a little surprised to find out that Fremantle are the front runners in the Clark stakes at this point. I hope they get him.

Send him off to GWS for a band 2 comp pick. Use it next year and get another top 5 pick.

Those trades rape brisbane

if you got that voss would run around in circles and piss himself with excitement. imo would be band 3 but everyone has a different opinion on that so lets not let that derail this thread. if carlile did go port would be lucky to get band 3 and fb's are notoriously hard to find and develop.

if he wants to play ruck then vic would be the choice. if freo was his choice last time he could want to go home again im sure freo can work something out.

If Mitch Clark went to GWS he should easily be worth a band 2 compo pick. Players like him are harder to find than Scully and Ward. Lions would be royally screwed with anything less than band 2, IMO.

If he goes to Freo it would be as a fwd and 2nd ruck. Then Zac Clarke might think his opportunities would be limited with Sandi and Griffen, plus M Clark and Bradley.

Brisbane will need another ruck. So maybe Mitch Clark and early 2nd rounder (pick 30'ish?) for Zac Clarke and Freo's 1'st rounder (pick 18-20ish). Maybe Lions 4th rounder for Dockers 3rd rounder as well.

He is a fairly solid player when he rucks as the no1 ruckman, but Leunberger has that under wraps. The Lions have stuck him at FF all year and while he is still pretty handy he really flourishes in that no1 ruck role....

..........and guess what Richmond need more than anything else

Dan Connors and a second round pick....do it

^^
Better than what you could offer, actually, wait, you wouldn't have any problems getting players to leave your club, 5 or 6 would all put their hand up to get out of there

Freo will try and hold there first pick so not sure what we could do. It would really depend on what we try to do with GWS. It will get quite complicated and could involve Griffen (who came home for family reasons), Johno (not sure that would be such a bad thing but Harv's recons he brings other players into the game) or Clarke (who appears highly rated). Would have liked to happen last year but Griff for a 3rd rounder appears a steal.

I think this guy should be worth lots at the trade table. Some of these suggested trades are underselling it just a tad.

Seeing as nobody seems that keen, perhaps Collingwood should package up a couple of guys ont the fringes of their side and snap him up.

Yeah, the Freo link was and still is a bit of a head scratcher unless it's purely as a forward, which drops his value to them significantly. I think he'd be a great fit for both Saints and GWS (probably more so than us until Brown retires). Allegedly Richmond have already ruled him out because of his salary demands, but there have been mixed reports on that.

I think we'd definitely be looking for a first round pick plus a sweetener (maybe swapping our third rounder for someone's second rounder) but, to be honest, he'll probably walk to GWS if he puts himself on the open market given I doubt anyone has their pockets. However a forward line of Clark, Walker, Folau, Hampton and Bruce would be... well, tall is an understatement.

Hampton is 'only' 187cm, but you can add 196cm Jeremy Cameron and probably 197cm Patton to GWS's list of talls - yeah, getting a bit topheavy up forward whichever way you slice it. And it gets even more ridiculous if they draft Longer, who while mostly a ruck is imho wasted if he rests on the bench rather than as a power forward.

Really? He definitely plays taller than that. Just took my mancrush on him up another notch. :D Cameron's generally been played down back this year, probably in reflection of exactly this issue - too many talls. I forgot about Patton, definitely add him to the list. GWS would hopefully be playing Clark as their main ruck, with Giles as back-up, as I think that'd work out best for both if he doesn't resign with the Lions.

I'd rate him a mid to late 1st round pick.

It's a pity for Brisbane if he leaves, as he is the perfect foil for Leuenberger
