Great seeing Mitch McGovern get a game. This kid showed heart and passion to reach the finish line tonight. He barely played last year, even at SANFL level, so to get a game tonight in the AFL shows how much the club has to respect and trust the kid.

I am from the same town and club as Govsy and am wrapped to see him succeed like this. He'll end up a future champ of the Crows.

Did some very good things tonight that wont show up on the stats sheet. Can tell he's got a good footy brain. I hope he plays next week.

Had 3 shots on goal in the last quarter and didn't get one...
I think that's a positive though - lots of pressure and at least he was getting the opportunity to take the kick.
Also did a number of good things with his body and intensity to tackle and fight for the ball. Looks to be a find.

TBH, didn't see much in him (as had been living in WA and not got to see reserves games)

His first 1 or 2 trial matches were poor, but he really turned it on in the GC game and we have a player here for sure. Great set of hands, really strong 1 grab marks at times

Gets another gig i reckon

He's got all the tools.

Our forward line is poor in the air…he adds a vital dimension (and should be in until Menzel is ready).

Spot on. We don't have a lot of good marks in this side. Our forward line lacks a good high marking tall and McGovern could possibly provide this. He will only add value to our side and increase our potency.

Kicking is an issue for me. Cant carry guys in the same side as Lynch if they both play up the ground.
There's nothing wrong with his kicking usually, is actually quite talented with both feet. Bit of a first game choke, would've been tired and it was a challenging situation. Was fantastic to command 3 shots on goal in that crucial period.

I know it requires some position manoeuvring but if guys like McG and Milera get dropped and spuds remain I will be livid (but not surprised)

For sure I agree on that last bit. I have lost faith in the selection panel however and have to think of ways of improving the rest of the side. Thats probably how they think anyhow.
Tough selection week.. hendo, knight, cey, lyons, menzel, cameron, hartigan all have claims of being called up and theres guys like VB and Mackay no guarantee of being dropped. That leaves Milera, McGovern, Cheney and Atkins in the firing line.

Check out his brothers twitter for a laugh

His kicking is actually pretty good. Think he was just a little panicky with the ball last night which is totally understandable for a debutante. Think with a few games under his belt he can be a very handy foil for Lynch and Tex.
