I like the pick but we all need to understand he hasn’t played at the level, it’s a jump, wish him all the best, hopefully he can make up some of the gap we now have in losing Elliott.

I have my fingers crossed and he can make an impact at some point, will add to our VFL in the short term and create some competitive tension.

Why would we turn Buller into a defender when we just drafted one and have moved Howes back there? Buller is crushing it at VFL level as a forward

Because he doesn’t appear to be able to translate that to AFL form currently?

And the answer is moving him to a position he doesn’t play?

History is littered with key position players who found new life at the opposite end of the ground

Seems to have all the tools

Buller has hardly played AFL. Moving a young player this early away from his strengths would be damaging. I had a weird thought. We may have too many talls to develop them easily. I would think Buller with AFL games and several years in the AFL system is ahead of many.
Edit; 🤫. Don’t mention Howes.

When did Chiropodists become Podiatrists?

Looks like in the 1970’s ( answering my own question)

I recall at the Royal Melbourne Hospital some years ago podiatry was colocated with dentistry which I always found amusing.

Good luck to the kid. Hope he does well.

I'm not that baffled as to why a Tongan player didn't get a game for Collingwood in the mid-80s - I think Nicky Winmar pointed to the reason one day at Vic Park.
I remember him very well and I think it was because he just wasn't any good. He was a project player of the time. Never looked like making it.

Possibly, but Dannie Seow played a few senior games for the club straight after Ataata left, and Wally Lovett (our first Indigenous player) had played quite a few games back in 1982.

Ataata looked magnificent and had pace to burn for a 195cm player. Unfortunately, he just couldn't find the ball. He was also rejected by a couple of VFA sides, might have played a couple of games for Coburg

Feels a bit of a reach to me. Winmar’s stand, and McAllister’s deplorably racist response, came about a decade after Ataata started with our reserves. He wasn’t a particularly good footballer.

We never gave him a senior game, not even a "night series" game. I'm still baffled as to why (and that's based purely on seeing a brief highlights package, I didn't get to see Collingwood seconds games back in those days)! He was huge, and he could move, so why didn't they give a bloke who hung around long enough to play 40 Reserves games a go?!
He dominated in a Collingwood intraclub pre-season game at Parade College and we all thought that he was the next big thing

Saying he could be our best key forward is a bit of a slight against Mcstay, who is having a very good season so far.Bit if it turns out to be true, that would be great for us.
Knightmare has always had serious infatuations with players he rated highly as prospects, sometimes to bizarre extents
