One of the points of this thread is to see who is going to put their balls/whatever to the wall and say Balla/Clarke/Suban will have a better year than Robinson. Because I'm telling you they won't, and depending upon injury it's a no brainer that he will have a bigger impact over his career than the guys we picked up instead of him. He is a star.

Robinson exudes the exact stuff that Palmer does, that is he wants to play football and he loves being out there. Not only that but his skills and decision making are pretty good for a young player. 6 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 3 straight goals 95% of which occured not in junk time... all in his debut game... hilarious.

The worst thing about this is the fact that I had correspondence to the club about this kid, as did other members I know and the recruiters F'd up on it. So yes I was pissed about it on draft day, I'm pissed about it now and unless I'm proven wrong by all the players we picked ahead of him (I hope I am seriously) I will put this one down as another blunder by the recruiting department. When an amateur (in football industry terms) like myself and others can out draft the guys getting paid 100k to do it, you know you have a dud or two in there.

So yes bookmark the thread, because it's another one of those smack downs that I like to give to the clowns on this forum who pretend they know something about the game.

We have developing mids, you can't just draft as many mids as possible and then say "done"... You have to draft for everything. We needed that small forward to replace Jeff, we got him in Ballantyne.

Whose to say he's any good though?

Hypothetically Ballantyne replaces Farmer, Suban replaces Black and Clarke replaces Warnock but they could end up being better than the original player, they could be duds, or they could be somewhere in-between.

As was shown last night, Robinson is a goal kicker. So what is better, a guy who can play midfield and forward or a guy who can only play small forward? I wonder.

Did you even watch the game you petulant, ignorant child? Two were from 50m penalties and the other was a gifted turnover from Richmond. At no point was he in the forward 50 as a goal kicking small forward.

God the stupidity surrounding this topic is as big as Stewy Dew.

I think Suban will be better than Robinson over their careers and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ballantyne kick more goals than Robinson in the 2nd half of the season even though I'm not a Ballantyne fan.

Feel free to bump this thread at seasons end to make the comparison with Ballantyne and a few years down the track on Suban if you like.

You don't seriously expect the club to take recruiting advice from some random dude who sent them an email though do you?

That's just the arrogant shit that GJ posts, poor form Memories (unless it was tongue in cheek).

No, one he stole and kicked from the boundary.
One he marked 15m out, as a forward, after which he received a 50m he likely would have kicked it anyhow.
The other I can't remember, think he kicked it from 30m or so.

So at least one of those show he was in the forward 50 as a small forward, as he marked the ball 15m out. So yeah, way to show how stupid you are with your own post there bro.

Its a pity our club doesn't employ people who sprout opinions on the internet.

Everybody had the chance to pick Robinson, not just us. This fact seems to escape some people's minds.

Seeing as Carlton are such geniuses, lets see how Yarran and Rich fare. Oh wait, Yarran didn't even play the first game. Must be useless! What a massive blunder by the Carlton recruiting staff ...

I don't care how stupid the other clubs are, but it goes without saying they are also stupid for passing on him. My concern is Fremantle not how bad the other teams did.

And had he kicked from 15, would he have kicked the goal? You saw Fev kick one from 15 and he missed. The other was from about 40 out, but he was a long way out prior to that, thanks to a 50. I fail to see how that proves that he will be an elite crumbing forward/small forward. Two out of three times were not even involved in being a forward.

Grats on making Freo supporters look incredibly stupid. Other teams supporters must be wondering wtf is going on when we have a yahoo idiot posting threads on players who have played one game, rubbishing those who have yet to play one.

You probably never even saw the guy play apart from what was on the internet, and even then it wasn't that great. Look at it again and you'll see he sprays the kicks more than palmer. Plus its not like he had 22 possessions on debut, just 13 and was missing most of the night. What a real peach you are.

Its pretty easy. Most posters here were a little surprised and dissapointed we took Ballantyne with our 2nd round pick. All you have to do is find any player who performs well who went after him and you can SEE I TOLD YOU. It may look like a controversial post but in actual fact its a turkey shoot. Even more so seeing as Ballas has no right of reply for the next few weeks.

BTW - you really don't do yourself any favours by making claims like that, unless you get the regular opportunity to piss in someone's ear at the club... GJ has better street cred in that department, and that's saying something...

I'd never thought I'd say this, but yes, we've now found that Jeffy's lunching and brunching does actually have more credibility than something - namely, Memsies tales about his detailed and intricate advisings to the club on player selection. Someone should sign the boy up!!!

With the benifit of one games worth of hindsight, it looks like you won one and lost one Memories.

You were adamant that we take Benny as well.

Wonder what his lifetime score is???

That's be the sound of Bennyboy's hamstring...

I think we did exceptionally well in the draft.

Now we can wait till 2012 to see them play thanks to our selection staff.

Ha ha!! Spot on frigate - nothing like seeing the recruiters hard work stymied by the same old selection policy...

One of the points of this thread is to see who is going to put their balls/whatever to the wall and say Balla/Clarke/Suban will have a better year than Robinson.

Glad you made it a contest open to both genders Memsies - what will you be nailing down??

Because I'm telling you they won't, and depending upon injury it's a no brainer that he will have a bigger impact over his career than the guys we picked up instead of him. He is a star.

Well then it's good he's at Carltank - they need stars to complete their galaxy. I'm happy with the squad of team players we are building - if we could just get the selction policy right.

Robinson exudes the exact stuff that Palmer does,:eek::eek: SAY WHAT?? You can see this after 1 game?? that is he wants to play football and he loves being out there. As opposed to all the other players who just hate being out there and can't be bothered running around, unless Chelsea's rostered on as the goal umpuire for their game???

Not only that but his skills and decision making are pretty good for a young player. 6 tackles, 4 inside 50s, 3 straight goals 95% of which occured not in junk time... all in his debut game... hilarious.

The worst thing about this is the fact that I had correspondence to the club about this kid :eek::eek: You actually want credit for sharing your advice with the club??? Here's a better idea - how about you send them a bill for the services you rendered, I'm sure the cheque will be in the mail soonish... as did other members I know and the recruiters F'd up on it.

So yes I was pissed about it on draft day, I'm pissed about it now and unless I'm proven wrong by all the players we picked ahead of him (I hope I am seriously) I will put this one down as another blunder by the recruiting department. I'll just go get my red nose and clown shoes...
