In Mitcham, Victoria for a few days and have already had a deranged woman try to steal my shopping, 6 separate drivers get out and fight at the supermarket, a cabbie try to swindle me and cut across multiple turning lanes and there is literally garbage everywhere.

What is the go?

SA or Vict?

Melbourne, sorry.

Feels like this place is the Logan Central of Melbourne.
ROFL would noty be anywhere close which is saying something but there are still a fair few derros around there and who come from other areas. Real mixed area between families who have moved there for a big and affordable house in the last decade or so and ones who moved in their 20 years ago when it was cheap plus there are a lot of rentals. Have to agree that around the shopping mall/Coles the place is feral and avoid it happily.

If you'd like to see worse then head to Melton, Werribee, North Richmond or Sunshine and then you'll see how tame Mitcham is.

Haha thanks for the reply. I get confused when SE Q'ld gets called bogan central but really, Melbourne is nowhere near the pillar of culture.

Perhaps it's school holidays in SA and they crossed the border?

I might be wrong after all. According to homely.com.au, Mitcham is a leafy green suburb perfect for families, hipsters and gays and lesbians.

There you go.

Maybe we should just locate all the Mitchams and have a Mitcham-off.

Mitcham is not bad at all, probably just got unlucky.

Go east 15 minutes further and you'll consistently find what you described. Gets progressively worse from Ringwood to Croydon to Lilydale to the sticks.

Yer the area is gentrifying. Go for a beer at the Mitch. The regulars there are something else. Pack of meatheads

Leafy green seems a massive stretch.
What I think of it, not that I know much is almost a small factory area with the town forming off a dirty main road/highway.

Mitcham is fine, have lived there for a few years now. Go 5 minutes further out towards Ringwood and then come back to us :p

How on Earth do you find yourself in Mitcham for a few days?
I mean condolences, but Mitcham?

Don't forget Vermont South.

Used to live in the outer east, you do notice a difference demographically once you get past ringwood. Ringwood isnt too bad, more appealing now with whats happened with the eastland redevelopment than when i used to frequent the area 10 years ago. Its about the only thing thats changed in the outer east since i left, still the drab dreary suburbs with crap infrastructure and dodgy roads. Drove past the old house in mooroolbark the other day and the street looked exactly the same as 20 years ago.
